Replace all your bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs or at least use tube lights.Opt for task lighting over desks,dining tables to avoid lighting up the entire room each time you need light.Do not leave lap tops or TVs on standby mode and remember to turn all switches off when you leave home.
Also if you have an old fridge know it guzzles more electricity .Even cutting down on the number of times you open the fridge door can axe your bills.Do not leave ACon all day.
When you go for shopping make sure you get ones that save energy.

Water geysers is yet another gadget which uses a lot of energy.

Also people have the tendency of leaving the kitchen lights on till dinner is over...please avoid this.
