    Hi All

    My Inlaws Shashtiabdhapoorthi falls during the month of December this year.

    I am looking for ideas to make the function little different..

    Since the function is of 2 days,and we will be free during the first day from afternoon,i need different ideas to make the function really exciting and different.

    I do have few ideas but i need all your help ,not just for that first day evening but for the whole function..

    The invitation would be a traditional one but still if there are some wordings or some ideas to make it better,i would love to hear them..

    Request all your help ..

    PN::We are out of our hometown and cannot travel at the moment.But we can get some small help from relatives there.Request you all to consider this point while providing your ideas

    super thought..

    Try arranging for some radha kalyanam or bhajans for 1 hr or so which the elders enjoy

    also plan on some games wer ur inlaws may involve.. like couple games for elders..
    Also try enacting a small drama your inlaws wedding and life story..
    will get back if i get more ideas

    If you can arrange for a projector, collect some real good old photos and make a movie out of them about your inlaws.

    Talk to you MIL in person and ask her or encourage her to collect 60 spl gifts for your FIL since it is his 60th birthday and can be given at various times during those 2 days.. 60 years 60 suprises..

    Hi,

    While printing traditional cards print the meaning of sahtoabdhapoorthi and others(80th birthday Etc). It was done by my cousin sister for her parents 60th marriage and it was very nice.

    Also collect some good and memorable photos of them and you can display at the venue or make a ppt.
    If everybody will be fine arrange for some fun filled games,so that everyone can enjoy.

    Sorry Swaran, for going out of the topic.

    Just a doubt, is sashtipoorthi conducted on the 60th birthday or 61st birthday.

    My parents say on the 60th birthday but my sisters in laws say it is to be done on 61st birthday..

    Please suggest

    radha kalyanam has become a common one in our family..so we are planning not to hav that ..but thanks fr the idea
    yes as you say ,i am thinking of cuple games ..and for some video clippings..lets see...thanks a bunch

    no problem..actually its done once the person completes 60 years..but few say if missed due to some reasons,it could be done on the 61st year..and there are few who say,you can do during 59th/60th/61st year

    ideally speaking 60-61 should be fine,perfect being the 60th

    We wanted to do it on the 60th birthday itself since my parents will be here in muscat.

    Some of my plans which may help you.
    1. A cake cutting ceremony with my father in a suit.
    2. During the party you can include songs by relatives.
    3. I am planning to gift them with I phone....
    4. Also a ring exchange to add flavor.

    Some games:
    1. cooking by male members
    2. number games
    3. musical chair though common, the fun is awesome esp with good songs in back ground...
