When Barack Obama invited many of our priests to conduct a pooja/ritual at the White House before he took charge as President of US...the whole world looked at him surprisingly....but after the ritual he gave a statement........ "I BELIEVE AND RESPECT INDIAN TRADITION AND CULTURE BECAUSE IT HAS ITS OWN SIGNIFICANCE WHICH THE WORLD DOESN'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THAT"
Yes...what he said was really true..we people having rich tradition and culture given by our ancestors doesn't follow accordingly. ..even if we follow we do it blindly....because we think that when we follow our tradition the people surrounding us think us we are superstitiou and god fearing...
Just ask urself ...why we worship god in the idol form..why we apply tilak to ur forehead. ..why we need to bow to ur elders and touch there feet....why we need to recite mantras..what is its significance. .. so..on....majority of them might not be knowing answer for these questions.....
So I myself starting this thread to give u the significance essence and greatness of our traditions and rituals given by our ancestors which we perform in day to day life and clear ur doubts regarding them..
Just pour down ur doubts and questions and I will try my best to answer them...
    GOD BLESS YOU ALL.....

    Hello Sir,

Very nice thread. Many people have lots of doubt regarding our usual pooja rituals.Although we perform many but dont have any clear idea about it.In this regard I would like to know what is the significance of applying different kinds of tilak on our forehead like some put on chandan kesar tilak while others put haldi kumkum and so on.And also what is the difference of lighting diya with different kinds of oil. Please reply.

    Regards,
    Prm

    Hello prm
First of all. ..Thank you of ur response....we cud only see our physical body through our naked eye....but when u see through ur super conscious eye...u cud see 7 layers wrapped around our body...among them the subtle body is one...which is directly connected to our 7 charkas which are in turn connected to 72000 nadis through which our prana runs responsible to be alive...among these 7 chakras..the one which is located bw the eyebrows is called AGNA CHAKRA...which is responsible for ur intuition, intelligence and thinking power. ..the energy surrounding our body enters and exits through this chakra. ..so when you apply tilak bw ur eyebrow. ..the energy is allowed or restricted to enter the body depending upon the type of tilak u apply...for example. ..when u apply red tilak/ kumkum the negative energy is restricted to the enter the subtle body....same way when u apply turmeric/haldi chandhan. ..only positive energy is allowed to enter the subtle body...these energies play a pivotal role to change the state of ur mind.
One more important thing is that...the red tilak must be always applied by ur right hand ring finger and haldi chandhan must be always applied by ur right hand index finger...because ring finger belongs to sun and index finger belongs to jupiter. ..now light lamp using different oils give different significance. ...for example if u light lamp using coconut oil..the wish in ur mind comes true...bcoz the flame emits the positive energy when lighted with coconut oil and the energy waves form a strong relationship bw u and idol ur worshipping and leads to development of positive events in ur life..

when lighted with coconut oil - success in career
    Ghee - financial stability
Mixing 3 types of oil- eradicate evil energy
Mixing 5 types of oil - becomes dwelling place of divine energy
Mixing 7 types of oil - acquire super natural powers.

    regards
    Sudhindra..

    Hello Sir

Thanks for starting this thread and the above information..

I do hear that we should use Sesamme oil(Til oil) for lighting the lamp and we should not be using normal oil which is used for cooking.. what is the significance of using til oil?

    Regards

    Hello rampuri
Among the oils which we use for lighting the lamps...sesamme oil is the best because. ...it signifies saturn...in any horoscope the placement of saturn signfies what karma balance u have in this birth...so when you use sesamme oil...it signfies that u r burning ur past karma and lighting the lamp in front of the Almighty. ..so the lord will be pleased and blesses u to attain moksha...no karma means no rebirth...which leads to moksha

    Hello prm
See the whole Brahmanda is revolving around the Dhruva in clockwise direction....now identified as Pole Star ..this is the boon given to Dhruva by Lord Vishnu....so the energy in the universe is also revolving in clockwise direction. ...in any temple tremendous positive energy generates which revolves in clockwise direction surrounding the temple area. ...so when you do pradakshina this positive energy surrounds your Aura...and brings positive mood to ur mind...thats the reason why we feel peace and energized when we enter a temple and do pradakshina. ..
