    Dear Saisakthi

    Thank you for guiding me.:)
I will be more careful next time onward.
All this while I was offering the flower & akshat on the diya before lighting it. :bonk Will correct it the next time I'm in the temple. Thankfully I am applying kumkum & chandan on the side of the diya. :thumbsup

@luckysangeetha: Thanks for your kind words.

    Dear diya,
    Donot worry about the incidence.
Only lighting the lamp is our part.
Burning is inthe hands of god.
God may protected u from some bad things by extinguishing tne lamp.
The evil thing may gone thru that. So donot worry.
Lighting lamp in temple is to tell our prayers to god even if we forget to tell him.
    Be happy.

Basuradhu, i think it should be 'swagatham' instead of swagam.

dear Saisakthi, You have mentioned to select a wick that will not burn completely. This is the question in my mind for very long time. Could you please throw more light on this? I light the diya which burns in the centre which prevents any wick from burning. But during Karthik Mahina deepam festival, I light earthen lamps in which the wicks burn completely. Your response on selecting the appropriate wick will be of great help. :)
