Ladies, I am confused so I need some advice.

Riya was real squirmy when we tried to pierce her ear, so it is not exactly in the center. I am concerned that it may be a problem later on if the piercing is too low. We got it done on Saturday and the lady who did it said, it's not so low and as she grows it won't be a problem. I am thinking of taking out the ear studs and let the pierced hole heal itself BUT I don't want her (and us) to go through the whole piercing process again in a couple months, and it may not be as easy.

What do you think? I have attached a picture here.

    hi riya's mom,

yes, it seems to be too low. it is better you remove the studs and let the skin heal. once riya grows, her ear will take a good shape, so that you will be able to find the exact centre point and pierce once again.

because, if it is too low, she may not able to wear fancy dangling as she grows. it will pull the ear hole and will make the hole bigger. she can remain only wearing studs of lighter weight.

but if you can take an advice from an ENT Sepcialist, it would be fine. because they do ear hole stitching and nose piercing etc.

Vanaja, thanks for your reply. Do you think she will heal good if I take it out now? I am worried about the hole getting bigger and that she won't be able to wear any fancy chandelier earrings.

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! The more I think about it the more I am getting upset. Poor thing, I hate to have her go through this again.

I think I'll take it off then. Did Niev's ear heal well, or did it leave marks?

I have been in such a fix this whole weekend if I should let it be or not. Thank you, Devika and Vanaja. Bow

And Devika, I think I'll wait too before re piercing her. But isn't it harder at when they are 1, did Niev keep touching it?

Yeah Raj ,you'll need to be a little more cautious with her initially for a few days.Kids do tend to touch but that is just the initial couple of days. Your anxiety is perfectly justified but I am sure you guys will be fine soon. Good luck to all 3 of you!!

    Love,
    Devika

Raj..I agree - it is a little too low. I think what Devika suggested is an excellent idea - let it heal now and do it after 1 year. You'll get better positioning then. Poor baby...but never mind it will be fine the next time!

    Don't worry,it will heal.

For Tarun we pierced his ear when he was 1 as per tradition. He even had a dangling earring for a few days. Then when he was playing one day,the edge of a toy got caught on that earring and he started pulling it.Luckily, nothing happened. We took him that evening to a jewellery shop and had the earring cut and removed to avoid any future problems.Within a few days, the hole healed. Now you cannot make out anything.
