Is there a right or wrong way to meditate.

Right now I close my eyes and breathe, sitting on chair.

But Vipassana says to do body scan, Silence and Spiders at a 10-Day Vipassana Meditation Course

Is this necessary to force this

What if person just sits down closes their eyes and breathe? Won't their mind eventually focus and clear.

I was starting to read a book year ago, Science of Religion, https://www.amazon.com/Science-Religion-Framework-Peace/dp/0978726413

    First chapter or so says
    1. There was nuclear ice age 100s of thousands of years ago
    2. People hid in caves to protect from cold
    3. To keep comfortable from the cold and be aware of animals and other predators, they sat in semi-conscius state, near the fire.
    4. 100s of thousands of years later this is known as meditation

The people who came out of these caves were tall and powerful.

Think of Lord Shiva (see, we call him Lord). He is depicted as meditating in a cave. Look at how grand and tall he is depicted.

Can you give your comments. What do you think of meditation.

For me, I am using meditation as a process to make peace with all that has been going on with health.

There are wrong ways to meditate. If you force your mind on an object of meditation and try to focus very hard then you u will end up with a headache. If you chant powerful mantras incorrectly then also it can have negative effect.

First pls understand what meditation is about. It is focusing the mind on something continuously without break, why, to tame it. Because the mind is the most important instrument for a human being with the help of which one can do anything. It is like regulating a irregularly flowing river to get the most benefit from an instrument. It is being done in many ways according to the purpose for which we do from health & fitness , achieving one's full potential , realising one's own true nature etc.

For me to be able to have a successful meditation, you have to find a good and peaceful spot where you won't hear any destruction noise. Once you hear any commotion, it would be hard to concentrate and focus.

My meditation gets broken now and again. Especially when I am worried I did not set timer (happened once or twice).

And if I really have to use the bathroom, and stop, get up, return and resume meditation.

There is so much noise where I used to meditate (before lockdown).

Now I chant "om" while meditating, to keep awake at least.

Incense helps me meditate. Maybe it can be useful to yours too.

I like the idea of insense. Honestly I fall asleep even when chanting om. When I realize I feel asleep, or then I start chanting om again...

I see, but I'm sure if you are really willing to do meditate, you will learn soon how to adjust yourself to make sure you won't fall asleep during your chanting. It really boils down to discipline and believe me, I have a fair share of what you're experiencing when I first decided to do some meditation.

I see the promise in meditation. The promise to make one a better person.
