With the new XenForo software, thread titles are automatically capitalized -- the first letter of each word in the title is capitalized. Which is good and looks better to read. A byproduct is that acronyms or words with all capital letters are de-capitalized. IL becomes Il, USA --> Usa, NRI --> Nri, SAHM --> Sahm. Can this be changed so that the title is capitalized but words in all capitals are left as is? Saw one possible solution: Lack of interest - Thread Title Capitalization - Slight Modification Hopefully the suggested fix does not need all acronyms to be listed!
Hi @Rihana, USA does seem much better than Usa Thank you for taking time to look for a possible solution. Will run it through the technical team too and let you know how feasible it is.
@Rihana Yes, I second this. This is a nuisance I have also noticed for a long time. Thanks for researching potential solutions. Have added to the list.
Bumping up the request. Now we see it in a thread Jey started : ) Promotion For Ep&g Forum This badly needs to be fixed. The threads created with lower case acronyms will remain as they are. Fix most likely won't change titles of already existing threads. Over time, such threads with lowercase acronyms are going to increase and will give an unprofessional look when a section is viewed.
Just curious. Who is technical team? Is it administrators we know who when they log off from reading/posting/moderating in IL, take off their administrator hats, put their nose to the grindstone and look at technical issues?
Jey, not to be pesky about a requested change... I leave that to @Iravati who does it with the passion of a part-time job. : ) But my heart just broke when I read this thread title: Rip Jimmy... when R.I.P Jimmy was intent. Jimmy being the writer's much loved Labrador.
Leave it to me buddy! WE WANT CAPITALISATION! WE WANT CAPITALISATION! MARCH FOR CAPITALISATION! ! * Picture inspired from the centenary celebration of suffragist movement on the cover page of a book here.
Oh no! Yes, we need to get this done. I agree. But prior to this, we need to get some foundational work done. Working on that now!
Nice illustration. Your persistence is impressive @Iravati. R said you do it with the passion of a part-time job, but the passion of a greenpeace member is more appropriate?
