    Hi

Recently I was talking to a friend and got a question.

    1. How long does it take normal couple to resume intercourse.

    2. How much is too less period, how much is too long period to resume sex life..

    3. How do you manage private time especially if kid sleep in Same room.

During a recent getogether, there was a discussion on this topic when one friend who's pregnant came up with these kinda questions, n the whole conversation branched out to the whole pregnancy n delivery topic with all the ladies sharing their own experience, so giving you some answers based on that.

    1. In a normal situation, if health wise everything is good, intercourse is safe anytime after the whole bleeding stops. But it maybe painful or unpleasant for some, so they can start anytime they feel ready.

    2. 2-3 weeks of period is pretty common.

    3. You wait for the kid to sleep, you will know their deep slumber time. But this is doable till only a certain age after that it's risky (There are messy stories about kids waking up in between too).

Many friends opt for sneaking into a different room in the middle of the night or change the timing to after school or something like that till the child moves into their own room.

40 days is the maximum time. After that everything become normal as earlier. And with kids in the same room they might wake up when they are small and cry and when they become little old 3+ years if they wake up they can ask questions and can discuss it to others too. So avoiding this is advisable.

OP, Like there is no normal or abnormal frequency of intercourse for couples, there really is no timeline for resuming sex after delivery. It really depends on factors like if the delivery was a c-section, emotional status of mom, how rattled the new mom & dad are by the the baby schedules & their readiness.

As for location of intimacy, I would say better if in other rooms than with baby in room, that way it’s safer and also one doesn’t feel inhibited .

It depends on both the spouses, specially the woman who gave birth and her mental, physical conditions.
All I remember was yearning for some undisturbed sleeping hrs after each of my deliveries during the first couple of months.
ICs, I don't really remember when we were actually ready for it. But perhaps, some quickies then and there.

Well here you go, may be you are hearing for first time. My son is 2.6yrs. We are yet to resume..

Monika am not talking about wait till 1year to resume.. I know after 6 weeks check up post delivery doc said we can resume sex life..

But most of them I heard waited till 6 or 9 months. So was wondering how much Gap is normal..

I was away from dh till my son was 1year. (He was in usa me in moms).

After coming USA kiddo sleeps with us. And for personal reasons we are yet to resume sex life..

Yes you would have gone insane. Because its priority for you..

I dont feel the need these days. Different people different priority.

You have quoted my words "And for personal reasons we are yet to resume sex life.."

Still you felt like suggesting different bed for my child.. Thanks we have decided
to have my child co-sleep till hes 5years..

PS: I never vented/worried to resume sex life.. I was just wondering whats norm..
