Re: LiFE Surely Life is a journey, but neither your destinations or the route of ur journey u are unaware and neither the travel span. About Hair and Nails being Living/Non living things , they surely are living things as they grow, move. But moment they are seperated from the body they become non living !!!
Re: BODY and MIND Dear ILits part 2 The more energetic food we eat the more muscle formation and growth of the body formation. The food taken must be digested and assimilated into the blood. For this sufficient exercise (work)is also necessary.otherwise the excess energy will be accumalated in he form of fat in different parts of the body. This leads furthur problems. so we must keep in mind that "we eat to live but not live to eat"we must plan our food habits in accordance with our life stye.A labourer needs more quantity of food than an office worker(with sedantary habits)Not only that a Hard worker needs heavy(more calorific value)food where as a person who perform light work needs only light food .If they do not follow this rule they have to face health problems. This is all about the physical effect of the food. If we consider the effect of the food on Mind we have to take it into accunt The types of food mentioned in Bagavat geetha. According to GEETHA food is classified into 3 categories depending on its effect on Human Mind. They are 1) Satva 2)Rajas 3)Thamas 17 chapter,7,8,9,10 slokas. Satvic food: That food which promotes Longevity,Makes the life pure, gives Health, strength, and satisfaction to the consumer is known as satvic food Rajasic food: That type of food which is hot, bitter, sour, saltish, less energetic, pungent and causing burnng sensation is known as rajasic food Thamasic food: That kind of food which is used More than 3 hours after cooking, tasteless, withbad smell, consumed and leftover by others etc is called Thamasic food Nowadays people are not giving importance to the affect of the food upon mind but it is also to be considered before consumption for complete health. We shall see what these three types of food in our day to day life and what effect they cause on human mind one by one in our next part Bye Sastry
Re: BODY and MIND Sir, Your post "Body and Mind" was beautiful in the sense that you borrowed from science(comparison with a computer) as well as religious sermon (Bhagavat Geetha) to explain the link between the two and the effects of food on the two. I am sure it will be of great interest to younger gen ppl.
Re: BODY and MIND Madam Malatyjagan, your appreciation is an encouragement to me. I always invite readers suggestions and criticisms on my posts for Better presentation. Than Q very much for your comment. with best wishes Sd/sastry
Re: BODY and MIND Dear ILits, In general every humanbeing posses all the Three types of qualities with him in different degrees of each quality. Some are more in satvic nature than the other two.some are more Rajasic than the other two. Some are more Thamasic than the other two qualities. Now What is satvic nature? A person with Satvic nature -- is Pious, godminded, afraid of doing any sinfull deed,Always try to lead simplicicity, purity in his thought, word and deed, frank,Forgiveness, slf restraint, sacrificing nature, hepful to others, with minimum wants of life, study of Religious Scriptues, develops spiritual knowledge,Nonviolence,Firm decision,Respects others,Truthfullness,Not to find fault with others ,performs Rituals and cermonies without expecting any Returns, and all such type of virtues. (B.geetha 16th chapter1 ,2,3slokas) What is Rajasic nature ? A person with Rajasic nature-----is passionate,Always try to maintain status with his resouces, wish to acquire more and more wealth, performs religious rituals and cermonies with pomp and expecting god returns, speaks with others with pride for his wisdom and wealth, expecting returns in his every action,Expects respect from others, selfish in nature, greedy, always try to acquire more and more properities, always try to find fault with others, try to enjoy more and more luxuries, always wants to be with company.....etc Most people in this world are of this nature only. What is Tamasic nature ? A person with Thamasic nature ------is Ignorent of Divine knowledge.More attachment with worldly pleasures,Addicted to all type of vices, cruel towards animals and fellow beings,Most of the time in sleepy and unconscous state Quarrelsome with others, never hesitate to hurt others,no fear of sin ,preferred to do any kind and any amount of criminal actions for his selfish ends even there is no personal benifit. They almost lead a life of Demon in the form of Humanbeing B.geetha 14thch,8th sloka More in the next part Bye Sd/sastry
Re: BODY and MIND Dear ILits, part4 At times we may feel that as it is given in B.Geeta it is petaining to a particular sect (Hindus) of people. It is too foolish to think like that. Are we not observing such type of people in the world ?If u are interested you can study the nature of 4 or 5 persons with in your sorroundings for a certain period (about 3or 4 months)closely, their way of talking, their behaviour in different situations etc you will find that these persons (each one of them) belongs to any one of these three types.we can observe that majority of the people belong to Rajasic Nature, very few people belong to Thamasic nature and very very less number belongs to Satvic Nature.we ourselves(ndividually) belong to one of this type. Then u may ask me what is the use of knowing this?Definitely there is lot of use. u can change your attitudes gradually to Satvic which leads u to spritual life.satvic nature is the desirable one for every one.A society in which more number of Satvic nature people are there,in that society all members can peaceflly lead their life forever. they always live on the principle of "LIve and let live" . IN a society where Rajasic nature of people are more ,there each one always tries to exploit the other ln every field.people pull on their life with difficulty. STRUGGLE FOR EXISTANCE AND SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST is the basis on which people lead their life in this type of society. our present day society is an example for this. In the third type of society where tamasic nature of people are more people lead an insecure life,No one knows what may happen in the next moment. Law lessness, indiscipine is their way of life .After knowng Fully about these styles of life one can understand which type of society is suitable to him to live in More in next part Bye Sd/sastry
Re: BODY and MIND Dear ILits, part 5 Now one can understand which type of life is better. But one need not be permanantely in a particular type of life. He can change from one type of life to another by changing his attitudes in every walk of his life. The Interest of these 3 types of people in performing religious rituals and cermonies also differ in 3 ways.Satvic people pray such Gods and Godesses like Brahma,Shiva,Sun, parvathi,Keeping the specific Idols,in temple perform specific poojas ,special poojas for these dietees. They observe Strict sanctity in performing these poojas Rajasic people pray diffeent gods and godesses of their own individual tastes, depending on their local customs, and local jataraas. Yellamma, poleramma, sammakka, saarakka etc comes under ths categoty. They offer Hens,Goats, sheep as prasadam to these Gods and Godesses and thy consume also.In some areas Country L iquor use as "Thirtham". At some places people divide into groups fight with each other with stones till they are Blodded. This comes under worship ony. Thamasic people worship Demons sitting on Human Corpse in The Burial grounds at Mid nights chant mantras to do some evil to their enemies .Witch craft,Black majic and many such rituals will be perfomed by them Their Main Motto is to kill or ruin others to the maximum. Re: BODY and MIND part 6 Dear ILits, we studied the Three Types of Nature (Satvic,Rajasic,Thamasic) in human beings. But a person need not Remain in the same Nature throughout his life He can be changed to any other type by changing his attidues with good effort. VALMIKI maharshi is a better example for this.He was a BOYA by caste whose proffesion is Hunting birds and animals. It is their food also which means that he is purely Thamasic in nature but later with the UPADESA of Narada he performed tapas wrote RAMAYANA ,thus changed to a pure SATVIC person.Of course this happens due to his PUNYA in his previous birth/births. This may not happen to Everyone But if sincere efforts are there with constant will one can change either in this birth or in the nextbirth. In fact it is necessary for every one (if he is not satvic) to change to satvic nature by constant effots For himself and for the society in which he lives. Now let us see the second prin ciple of "you are what you think". This is same as our old saying that " YAD BHAVAM THAD BHAVATHI" The meaning is that " It will happen as you think". But in our real life are we experiencing the truth of this statement.?If a person wants to become crorepathi and if he always thinks as crorepathi can he become so in this very life(janma) itself ?The answer is No.Then what is the validity of ths statement.?When we constantly Think about a person ,place, issue or an object whether the thought is positive or negative its seed will be stored inour mind in a miniature form. It is called in Hindu philosophy as "VASANA"(Beeja) Daily we Think on number of issues. But all these thoughts cannot be formed as VASANAS/beejas/seeds. Those which are Intense(on which we Repeatedly Think)will take shape as VASANAS. To Materialise These thoughts into expected results Related Actions performed by us in the present birth as well as in the previous(past)births are helpful. This means that Not only thoughts but also corresponding Actons also are necessary.Giving Alms to needy either in kind or in cash,Donating funds to orphan homes etc are some of the related actons.Similarly If a person wish to win a highest Medal/Trophy/cup he should have constant will and practice in that particular sport or game, he will get it either in this birth or in future births.Sincere Efforts in one birth in any field cannot go waste. They will give fruit in the Next birth. This is the law of karma for which no one is exempted. Re: BODY and MIND Dear ILits, part 7 Now we know what is" VASANA" means. It is nothing but the essence of continuous thought on the same issue. But These vasanas will change from time to time as our thoughts also changes. For example I myself had a strong desire to practice" VEENA " in my boyhood days.I Bought a god veena ,learnt the art at a teacher and practised for few years, used to attend the public concerts, used to hear" Kacheris" of famous south indian veena atists in Radio. But after few years when i entered into my job ,for want of time as well as such environment I could not continue my art,my desire was killed and that particular vaasana vanished from my nind completely. This is an example only. The same may be the case with others also. Vaasnas formed at one time in us may not exist another Time.New vaasanas will be formed. The Formation of vaasanas depends upon environemental conditions we live. so one must choose Good environement(company) to live in. You may doubt why we should give much importance to these vaasanas? As per sasthra Jeeva (suksma sareera) will carry these vaasanas Remaining at the Time of Leaving the body (At the time of death) which means that every Humanbeng Will Take the body (Human being or animal) strictly in accordance wth the vaasanas remain in the present Birth at the time of death. So These vaasanas are nothing but seeds of human lives. This is cent percent True whether we believe it or not.Nature's(GOD'S) laws are equally applicable to believers and nonbelievers. Re: BODY and MIND Dear ILits; part 8 We know that Man have number of desires From the moment of his birth to the moment of death. most of these desires are related to his personal needs. For example to eat rich food,to posses good shelter(big bungalow),to have a good job to maintan etc. These may be fulfiiled as per his wish or to a certain extent ( to a lower degree).if he satisfies with them it is well and good. if he has no satisfaction he has to put efforts to get them during his life time. If the desire cannot be fullfilled before his death they remain as VASANAS and if they are so strong, they will be carried by his "jeeva" to the next birth to fufill at that time.In the next birth some other new desires may arise in a similar way and one more birth may take place. There is no end for this cycle of birth and death. That is why our scriptures pronounce to cut the Desires(wants)in one's life, to satisfy with what they posses to liberate from this cycle.Besides these there are other desires to Human beings like,To acquire more n more knowledge, to acquire popularity in his society,to acquire more n more skills in fine arts, games etc, to take revenge on his enemies and such other innumerable desires.Same is the case with them also. Our Thoughts can be grouped into Two kinds. 1)External Thoughts 2)Internal Thoug ts External Thoughts means thoughts raised in our mind due to the external objects. For eample when we are looking to a movie thoughts of Devotion, pity anger,Sex,patriotism, crime etc may raise in our mind depending on our state at that time. These may vanish when the picture is over or may presist to see the picture again and again .There are people who learn more about Sex and crime etc through pictures only. Internal thoughts Means thoughts rised in our mind due to the thoughts already accumalated in our mind.Once these are external, now become Internal. These thougts are the cause for the formation of vaasanas.one should not have these thoughts for a long time in his mind.Mere thinking is also counts as doing work. This is more harmful to man than his physical work. That is why Lord Krishna said to Arjuna that one cannot keep Quiet with out doing work. More in nextpart bye Sd/sastry
