    Ah...those were the days!
Doing solo visits to various foreign living relatives' towns started a rumour that "we" weren't getting along all that well..... and various improvisations on that theme.

Eventually the grapevine brought that back to us. And we decided to let the rumours be, and offered minimal explanations to "why the solo visit ?". When children grew up and knew a thing or two (from watching soaps in America), and get asked weirdly worded questions by some distant Aunty, one devilish child had gone and mentioned "joint custody" ;).... rationalizing that all parents have joint custody.

That's the only tactic. The rest will fall in the right place automatically.

We often forget to keep our spouse happy and comfortable in our marriage due to so many stressful external matters. We show all our anxieties and stress on them, and nag them a lot to make them understand our side.
In this process, usually our spouses lose interest in us, and would like to emotionally distance from us. That's why they are unsure whether to completely detach from their FOO or not

Anger is bad, but in some cases we have to express our discontent atleast. If we dont express it where we should- then we keep the resentment inside and express frustration later at ourselves causing health issue or at our family members who love us.We take ourselves/immediate family for granted because we dare not express anger to outsiders and face the consequences.
As human being, there is too much pressure to suppress our happiness , trusting nature lest we be taken advantage by outsiders. So the problem is with those outsiders in society who cant accept our true legitimate feelings. They cannot handle our real reactions .If we trusted someone in happiness and let our guard down- ether way they make us pay for being emotional beings.Rather than focus on suppressing, the focus should be how to develop emotional intelligence to understand others and basic ethics to not take advantage of others.

:hello:"You get what you focus on & so you focus on what you want" says one quote.
    2. That reminds my boss, when I began my career wet behind my ears.
    3. I put up a fair telegram for his signature. Steno made a typo error which I failed to notice in a telegram addressed to new supplier. In word "windows" the letter 'n' was omitted. Military boss a ‘Major’ in uniform before reading fair telegram called me in and stared at me with bloodshot eyes.

Adjusting his turban and twisting his waxed moustache, he read it - fair telegram - a tad loudly when we both bust into laughter. Without ‘n’ the text was referring to supply of “widows”. Then he said that I must focus on like an eagle which flying high yet pick up fish from the sea.

I responded softly, “Sir, I can’t fly at such high altitudes”.

God loves & bless who focus on Him for His sake.

A while back I had asked what is the big deal each person carrying their dinner plate to the sink. Today, my household asked me what is the big deal about "do not put smaller dishes and bowls in bigger dishes that are oily and yellow with turmeric"?

My directive is simple: if a big vessel was used to cooking choley, rajma, chicken, fish, or any oily/turmeric dish, and that vessel is in the "soaking" state and half-filled with water possibly with some residue that needs to be scraped out later, do not put smaller bowls or plastic dabbas in that. The oily water clings to the inside and outside of the smaller bowl. If white rice was cooked in the vessel, then OK to soak other smaller vessels in it.

How can it be so hard for adults of voting age and above to follow this after being told nicely so many times?

I know it all goes in the dishwasher but in the sink or near it, don't put smaller vessels in bigger oily, turmeric'y vessels.

Why are they putting smaller plates and dishes in the sink? They're all old enough to put them in the dishwasher, no?

Telling anything nicely many times doesn't work in my household either. Once, I put sticky notes everywhere to shame them. Nothing changed.

@Rihana: you have described something that is not an odd problem here and there; it is universal enough to get on a NY'er cartoon:
    A recent cartoon [NY'er 20-Jan-2020] had this...

I saw Priyanka Chopra's tribute to Kobe Bryant at the Grammy's in this image: https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-pro...iyanka-chopra-grammys-manicure-1580116033.jpg and thought 'nice touch.' Didn't notice much else.

Later in the evening, I saw this picture of her and Mr. Chopra-Jonas, and wished for mental bleach to wipe out the image from the mind.

    Two words: But why.

That V should have ended a few inches above the belly button. The breasts or the belly button can be tastefully displayed with the right dress and carrying it off well. But displaying or revealing both at the same time leans towards nudity lacking in style.
