    Hello All,

I am an Indian with an Indian passport issued in Kuwait. I am currently in Kuwait on dependent visa with my parents. My wedding is fixed for mid next year and I am super duper excited about it :queen !
My man will not want to spend much time in India (about 2 weeks) for the wedding functions etc. After the wedding, I want to go to Dubai within 10 days or so. My man will travel to Dubai first (he works there) and apply for my visa for Dubai.

    Here are my questions:
    1. If I have a Nikah Nama, how much time would it take for my marriage to be registered officially? What are the steps that I need to do for this?
    2. How much time would my man need to get my visa? I have heard I can come on a visit visa and his company will handle the rest.
    3. I plan to change my name on my passport in Dubai. I heard it will be faster there than doing it in India. If someone has already done this, how much time and what documents are needed for this in Dubai? Also, would this affect my residence visa? Also, should my permanent address then be changed to Dubai or to my man's home in India?
    4. How much time will it take to change my name in my PAN card, ration card etc and how do I go about this? Can I come to India in my next vacation and do this?
    5. Do I need to change my name in educational degrees etc. in order to apply for a job in Dubai?
Is it possible to have one document that states my marriage and name which I can use instead?

I apologize for asking so many questions bundled into one but this is a little confusing process :spin. I want to ensure I do everything right so I have no legal or identity hassles later.

Looking forward to hearing from you! :thumbsup

Hi . These are very long procedures with lot of waiting time. Only marriage registration is done quickly within half a day.
The public offices in india are not so efficient you know that. They will not give you their full requirement in first time itself. We have to run up and down for new documents they ask, at least four times. So your short holiday here may not be enough. Keep at least 40 days or 60 days for completing everything you have listed. For name change in passport, it will take longer.
Only one document for everything is not enough. My relative got an affidavit, registered in court, for a changed name ( after having the name properly gazetted). Still, everywhere, they asked for separate authentication. Especially, passport in old name was not allowed.
    Wish you good luck.

    dear acecraze,
the procedure for name change in India is very complicated. you vil need some local address proof there and again there vil a inquiry for that.so i suggest you get it done in dubai if you dont have the urgency.
i have an Indian passport which was issued prior to my marriage. but then i had to add my spouse name or change my surname bfore cmg to Dubai as per my husband's company. so when we consulted the people at the Passport office they told there will be an address verification again and so on. and in this address you shld be residing form past 1 yr or so. so when my husband first came here he got to know tht adding his name / getting mu surname changed isnt necessary. we had just got our marriage certificate attested in India in UAE consulate and here in UAE. I got a visa immediately. there are services available for this and they charge something arnd 300 dhs i guess.ur fiance can consult them here in dubai.
you neednt change name in your certificates for a job, once you join your certificates will be sent for attestation to the country where u hv got them.
i dont think u can change name in PAN Card and Ration Card within the timeframe you have.this involves months together and is not at all easy thing.
I am not sure abt the nikahnama thing.but as far as i know we can get the marriage certificate in less than a week. v got it in 10-12 days of our marriage.
    hope this info helps
    all the best.
    sushma
