Girls, My DD is 11 months 3 weeks old. Please do share some porridge recipe(satthumavu).I searched here but I couldn't find any:hide:. And please give along with the measurements.
Hai Prana, I have a recipe.Do u understand tamil? shall i put it up in tamil? Is that alrite? If you are giving for the first time for your baby you get kezhvaraghu (sprouted)100gms,pottukadalai 50gms and fried rice (pori arisi)50 gms.Dry them well and roast them for a while and powder it well in a mixie.Sieve that so that it is very fine. Preparation:You have to mix around two spoons of this powder with water well so that no lumps are formed.add this mixture to boiling water.mix well.Leave it for a while so that it s cooked well.Add a pinch of salt.Feed the baby. This is for the first one week. After she gets used to it,you make th porridge with milk.may add sugar or salt as per wish. After one year year you can add so many other things, which i will give you in the following post. Regards, Madhu.:thumbsup
My granny generally dry roast the main ingredients let it be arisi kanji(rice poridge) or multi-grain based..then grind it into fine powder..Boil well with enough water..Add milk just before serving if milk is not restricted. A handfull of moong dhal is roasted along with rice and then powdered.
Hi Prana... I also give my baby ragi kanji...but since your baby is little bigger,i feel what i give for my LO cannot be given..So i browsed the net and found these two links sathu maavu how to make sathu maavu at home.I don't get it in stores? - Ammas.com Ask Agent : Ask questions, Seek advice, Ask an expert Hope you find these useful :thumbsup
Hai Prana, Hope this helps you. This is after one year... Ingredients: Sprouts: green gram 200gms kollu 100gms kezhvaraghu 200gms uzhundhu(black) 100gms whole wheat 100gms kambu 100gms Normal: cholam 100gms kondai kadalai 100gms pottu kadalai 100gms soya beans 200gms makka cholam 100gms rajma 100gms red rice 100gms thinai arisi 100gms cashew 100gms badam 100gms cardamon 10gms ground nut 100gms thuvarai 100gms karamani 100gms Preparation: All the items should be dried seprately.fry each item separately bcoz each of it will have its own features.see that you dont fry them very brown.grind them together. This is the normal ratio i have given.According to your requirement you can either increase or decrease their proportion. If you feel it would last for a long time for you,you can add a little salt while grinding, so that the flour does'nt get spoiled. The preparation of the porridge is the same as i told in the previous post.this can be consumed by all age groups Regards, Madhu.
Great Job Madhu, listing all the ingredients! My mom uses the same ingredients ((Except Kollu ) listed by you, for my DD and she loves this kanji mix + milk ! Prana, Just add these 2 ingredients : Sago (Javvarisi) - 100 gms Boiled rice(Puzhungal arisi) - 100 gms
Hai Swetha, thanks for your fb...yes i forgot the sago.but instead of using plain boiled rice the red rice has more protein content thats why i added that ... Regards, Madhu.
Thanks thanks thanks Mathu...U did a good job....:thumbsup Sorry for this late thanks.....I know tamil and understood very well.... I''ll follow this and make it.....
