Hi Mals, Shortening means, 'vegetable ghee' or 'vanaspati' you may know about 'dalda' / sunflower vanaspati? Some fat other than pure ghee. ok? You can replace it by ghee also. ok ya?:-D I am putting many sweets in Misc. thread please go through it. You can prepare more and more sweets before Deepavali and for Deepavali you can prepare them confidently. Try with small quantity ok? All the best.:yes: yes, what you are saying is correct. go ahead.

Slowly gathering courage to try out a sweet dish................ I will try with Pure Ghee as I do not use DALDA. ( I have learnt to make ghee at home. Mastering things slowly.....).

Hi malspie,i just read u r going to try this receipe by Krishnamma.So as a first time experiment.Make small quantity as Krishnamma had said.Secondly,turn off the gas while adding sugar or powdered sugar(use powdered sugar preferably).I had forgot to turn off gas and sugar got crystallise forming lumps and then I read it again carefully.So better take care.And,don't forget to give ur feedback.AND,Ur Thanks to Krishnamma b'coz that's her receipe.

Hi Krishnaamma, pl clarify my doubt.... in the first receipe, u haven't told abt sugar syrup....& the burfi should be cut after it cools.... in the variation sugar syrup is mentioned....& the burfi should be cut while hot :idontgetit: Thanks.... Zee...
