    I am 5’4” with 28 inch waist.

I purchased 5.5 meter saree from Mirraw Yellow woven cotton saree with blouse - IN WEAVE - 3395795

I am seeing many tutorials on how to drape saree

how Do theses ladies get 6 or 7 lower pleats. Are they shorter and trimmer than me

Dolly Jain is short and plump but she gets 6 to 7 lower pleats!

I do the same as them and I barely get 4. Usually I get 3 pleats

plus they are clunky, not straight and beautiful pleats

are these ladies using longer sarees

    Please please please help!!!!

So with 5'6" and quite a bit of body weight I faced this issue of not getting pleats . I used to get frustrated . So what I do is (For all important sarees) I get a meter attached inside . That extra cloth is usually not same material as the saree . Color I somewhat I try to match . The tailor charges me 100 bucks for doing the attachment . Mostly attachments I purchase plain blouse material (what we get here in India as saree panna) . This helps me with more pleats and a long pallu .

Let me know if I need to share a pic with you . I can do that

Also, plz give dimensions of the cloth.

I presume it was attacked on non-pallu side because pallu might have border, tassle, etc.

    Thanks!

Yes, attach the extra piece of cloth, probably the same colour/material as the saree to the non-pallu side where the blouse material is attached.
When the tailor remove the blouse material from the saree, ask him/her to attach this new piece of cloth as an extension.
When you drape the saree, you should start with this new piece; hence it will be covered when you wrap the saree around.

    Here is the video

If you are attaching to extend the length of the saree it should go on the non pallu side. How wide pleats are you taking and what is the length of the pallu? Try not to take too wide pleats and too long pallu since that will reduce the number of lower pleats. Are you planning to wear your pallu single/multiple pleats? If single then you can may be get away with attaching the extra cloth

I thought lower pleats should be 5 inches wide. This is cotton saree, hence wish to reduce bulge

and I wish to wear open pallu. I like super long pallu. But I dunno how short to make it to get decent number of lower pleats.
