When I was in college, I used to read out a blind students lessons for her. After I got married and had kids, it became a little difficult for me to do such things. Now, after my kids have grown up, I have started reading for blind students again. It is really just another kind of meditation I feel. It relaxes me so much when I read for such students. I also wrote exams for a child who was unable to write.Just wanted to share my experience...
Great help. I am much interested in doing this kind of service either for blind or disabled or for aged people. But I never got a chance.
Hi vidycvn..Really a great job. Is there any organization where you go and do this? It would be great if you can let us know the details of the organization, which require such kind of help..Thanks
I too had the opportunity to record lessons in casettes, attend seminar classes for correspondence courses with them to take notes when I was in my 8th std.10th std syllabus for normal and visually challenged students is the same and yet they score such good marks, study in regular colleges till post graduation inspite of all the difficulties.Even now feels so good to think that I have had such opportunities to learn more about them. Most of them are very very smart and hard working people according to me. Sumathii there are many websites to get details to help visually challenged people. This is one of them in Chennai Chennai Social Service
In Chennai PSBB tnagar school(next to vidhyodhaya), Every Sunday morning from 9 AM -12Noon the reading groups are organised for visually challenged.. Anyone can volunteer...Mostly there will be need for tamil readers... There will be people in need of readers from School to college..
