    Hello,

I just reached 40 weeks and am feeling false contractions, nothing regular or intense. Does anyone have suggestions to progress labor. I do walk (short walks), not really long ones. I am planning to also do some simple yoga exercises to see if this helps.

I would appreciate any suggestions. I am feeling fine and am happy to wait, but my hubby and family around me are getting very anxious which is making me nervous.

    thanks,
    Cooks.

I suggest not doing anything to kick-start labor. Please follow doctor's advice. Just relax. Tell your husband that it is quite common for pregnancy to be over due. Many women deliver at 41+ weeks. Eat well. Sleep well. Stay active as much as your body permits.

I would wait for nature to take its course than trying external measures for labor. It's normal for FTM to go past due date.

Hi Everyone, thanks for the reassurance. Had my doctors appt today, my cervix has effaced and thinned out 70% and no dilation yet, so yes things are moving along :). The doctor told us to have intercourse, the released hormones in the sperm will relax me and also induce production of oxytocin.

Today my sister will be taking pictures of my pregnant belly with my husband, so a little fun maternity photoshoot :).

Thanks once again for everyone's suggestions, will try to relax as much as I can.

Usually doctor advice to wait for 42 weeks if everything goes fine, so you should be okay as you're fine. Be relax, eat well and be happy, monitor your baby heart beat, be slow and active, all the best.

There is nothing to worry about in going over due date (which is sometimes off anyway). I will add though that I used to work in an OB office and one of the dads relayed something years ago that I will pass on. He said that his wife and six of her friends had gotten their labor going after eating pepperoni pizza. Presumably the indigestion was so bad it got stuff stirred up.
