Soups Chettu soup: hello friends, wondering about the name mentioned?. This is a normal and very simple dhal soup. As rainy season started, evenings are warmed with varieties of soups, and so i started this thread and friends let us share various soup varieties here. This recipe i got from Ananda vikatan. Chettu soup: vegetables (any veggie like carrot , cabbage, beans, radish etc) - finely chopped - 1 cup tomato - 1 green chillies - 2 Moong dal - 1/2 cup turmeric - a pinch garlic - 5 flakes saunf - 1/2 tsp kal pasi - 1 cloves -2 ghee - 1 tsp. salt to taste Method: cook moong dal, vegetables, turmeric and a handful of coriander , salt with a cup of water in a pressure cooker. Mash the contents well and keep aside. Heat ghee in a kadai, add saunf, curry leaves, cloves , garlic, kalpasi and saute till brown and add this to the mashed content. Drain it well . garnish with finely chopped coriander. Serve hot with a drop of lemon juice added. Try this for a different taste of dhal soup. regards karthiga.
