ragam- amirtha varshini

related to rain. once muthuswami deek****har (one of the trinity of carnatic music) sang a krithi (anandamrutha varshini) in this ragha as per the request of the local people during draught situation at ettayapuram and it is told that immediately heavy showers occured. this is the power of the ragha. iam not well versed in cine music details. many times i dont know the film name.

Well, another popular Krithi in the Raagam "Amritavarshini" - is Sudhaamayi Sudhaanite, composition of Shri Harikeshanallur Mutthaiah Bhagawathar.

And the song "Thoongaatha Vizhighal Rendu" by Yesudas and S.Janaki from the film Agni Natchathiram, is also set to the same Raagam.

 

Well, the only version I know, of the Krithi "Akhilaandeshwari", is set to Dwijaawanthi Raagam, and not Reeti Gowla. Unless, you are referring to some other 'Akhilaandeshwari' Krithi. Let me know, if that's the case!

Another very popular song in Reethi Gowlai, which created waves in Malayalam film music recently, was "Picha Vicha Naal Mudal", from the film "Puthiya Mugam", which was rendered superbly by Shankar Mahadevan, set to music by Deepak Dev. :thumbsup
