    Hi All,
A very beautiful composition of Thyagaraja, 'Nada tanu manisam, Shankaram, Namami Te ....' in Chittaranjani. Has the saptaswarams Sa, Ri, Ga, Ma, Pa, Da, Ni. I just love Madurai Mani Iyer's rendition of this song.

Re: Compiling of Raagas or Raagams

    Hi All,

Nice to know abt rare ragas and songs based on it.I wanted to mention about another song:

Thyagaraja Yoga vaibavam in the raagam Anandha bhairavi.

The speciality of this song is, it is written in the yathi style. To explain what is a yathi style, I quote here the excerpts of the song:

    Pallavi:
    Thyagaraja yoga vaibhavam..Sadasivam
    Akaraja yoga vaibavam
    Raja yoga vaibavam
    Yoga vaibavam
    Vaibavam
    Bavam
    Vam

    Charanam:
    .............................
    Sam
    Prakasam
    Swaroopa Prakasam
    Thathva Swaroopa prakasam
    Sakala Thathva Swaroopa prakasam
    Sivashathyathi Sakala thathva Swaroopa Prakasam

Notice that the saahithyam is composed by building up words in ascending or descending order..

Thanks for creating this thread enabling everyone to share their knowledge about music.

    Hi Aarthi,

I love this song and have heard Jon Higgins sing this song so well in the Chennai December concerts many many years ago.
