egg after ovulation

For each cycles, our doctor used to track my follicle development. When the follicle reaches a suitable size(around 20mm), she asks us to be together for 3 days. After 3 days, she again scan to find whether the egg is released or not. I want to know,

1. If the egg got fertilised, will its size keep growing beyond 20 mm?

2. Will the doctor able to find out that the egg got fertilized?

Why i am asking this is because, each and every time i am ovulating regularly and the egg is also released regularly. Then why the doctor must call me to scan after my ovulation days?

no,if egg get fertilised,it ruptures(released) n dr didnt find egg in u/s so dr came to know that egg may be fertilized
if egg didnt released then the size increases.

i dont know why ur dr scan after ur ovolution days mine didnt do so.she just check whether the egg is released or not

why dont u ask ur dr.

Hi Thaen...My understanding is:

Each cycle the follicle keeps on growing and when it reaches a particular size say 20-24 mm it ruptures and releases the egg. After the rupture if the egg meets the sperms (within 10-12 hrs) then fertilization occurs and if it does not meet it goes waste (it disintegrates)

The doc is calling u again after 3 days just to confirm that ovulation has taken place as sometime the follicles keep on growing and does not rupture and becomes cyst so just to confirm ovulation...the scan is repeated after 3 days and in this scan the doctor cannot tell u if the egg is fertilized or not. Only 6-10 days after ovulation, if the egg is fertlized and implanted then with blodd tests you can confirm pregnancy.

And if you are pretty sure about ovulation then there is less need to repeat the scan.

hi to all,
this is my very first post in this forum
i have read at various sites that ovulation period is the 10th and 17th day after m.c but is it to be calculated from the day when the m.c is over or after 3 days from starting of m.c or anything else??
please show some lights on this topic.

if you test using ovulation kit and check ur body temperature and liquid in ur cervix will also indicate

1. Use ovulation kit after 5 days from ur last day of period
2. Record ur body temperature in a chart
3. Cervix mucus will be like egg white and clear not yellowish .( thats ur days of ovulation perfect for IC and 100% conceive for sure ).
4. Eat lots of Greens and yoghurt drink to keep ur body cool.
5. Try to avoid oil stuffs, sesame, strawberry,peach,mango .
