Query about our tradition

Dear chitra amma,

This is akila and i am writing to you for the first time.

My query is not about cooking.

I am from a tradional kerala brahmin family where my parents used to do lots of pooja/rituals in their daily life. We used to be away for those "3 days" like most families.

Now i am married and settled in US.My husbands family doesnt believe this. Since we have a separate puja room, i avoid going there for those days. But i do cooking and take care of other household needs.

I need to know how to cleanse the house, what slokas are to be chanted ?

Many people say that this tradition is a wrong belief etc. But being from that tradition, i always have lots of questions about that. I am a religious person and i need your guidance.

I have searched for your answer reg. this issue but unable to locate. if this is a repeated question, i am sorry about it.

I generally sprinkle turmeric water in all the rooms,food material, pooja room and wash all the clothes,bedsheets etc.

Is there anything missing from my end.
