I have a salary account with HDFC. If I open a savings account in some another bank, say SBI, Is it possible to transfer funds from my HDFC to SBI. I have net banking facility and I though i could do the same through third party transfer. If yes, what are the charges incurred for doing such activity? Is there any minimum requirement of such transfer? Rs.5,000 or so per month is possible or not ?

    Deepa,

You will be able to transfer money from HDFC bank to SBI savings account. Not sure of the charges but most banks charge Rs.5 plus service charges and education cess which amounts to about Rs.6.xx per transaction for transactions less than 50k. Not sure of high amount transactions.

If you plan to transfer money every month, you can also place a standing instruction with HDFC account. That way, the pre-determined amount will be deducted on the given day of every month.

    - yes you can transfer from HDFC to SBI thru' TPT in netbanking
    - also, it is free of cost (because you got a salary account)
    - there is NO minimum amount required
