Punjabi Foot-tapping Music

I was very gung-ho about jumpy/zippy dance in the childhood. I would skive off from classical course and plead to take me in disco-wisco training, arey logon mere chimp-sway ko graceful classical bilkul suit nahi karta. The inter-house dance competition was a popular event in my school for the girls (and the whistling boys alike).

Then came a year when the song selection was disputed as two houses chose the same song for the finals. None stepped back. Finally, a smart teacher arbitrated the dilemma as — one house to dance the pop version and another the filmy version. School would not have been the same if not for the dance scuffles.

 

I think there’s a Parvati Khan pop version also apart from the filmi and original version. The details are vague to me now but the associated incident was scandalised, territorial lines drawn between friends, and it was a wonder that except for a teacher suffering mild dehydration during practice hours, no scathing retaliations were reported.
