My dear Meena ! Do not bother too much about Deepu bossing you at this stage. That is a warm friendly bossing ! Even now, I ask Ruby, advice on so many things because I strongly believe "Daughter is the mother of woman" ! Thanks for the F B. Hi, I couldn't enter the proverbs thread for long..Enjoyed reading all the proverbs. Thanks ... Love,
Dear Chith, Lovely proverbs. For once I knew the meaning of all without reading your english translation. Proverb16 istoo true. I like it. Regards, Meenu
Proverb No.16 Dear Chitvish How very true abt this proverb No.16. I did and still pamper my kids to the core. I truly agree with the first and the last part of the proverb but not the middle one. Though my elder one has entered the phase of Adithu Valar, somehow I do not beleive in it. I do scold her, yell at her to discipline her but I never can bring myself to beat my beloved kid. In US there must be laws against beating a child. Enjoyed all the Iypassi Matham proverbs. My Mom used to say: Iypassi Matham Adai Mazhai.
Late Feeback, Chitra ! Dear Chitra, I think this is the first time I am replying very late to your Proverb thread...I have been so much busy with work, that I am bereft of the luxury of browsing these days.. Had a chance to look at your proverbs only today. This time your posting looks little high for me...! for most of them I understood their literal meaning, though not the context where they are generally used. Proverb 9 reminded me of my mom,she often uses this proverb at home. I have heard of proverb 4. Proverb 16 is very apt for parental care. Proverb 9 is normally used in the context of siblings. Good collections, as usual. Love, Preethi
My dear Meenu ! Translation cannot reproduce the original beauty of the proverb, definitely ! Thankyou for the F B. Love, Chith. ஐயர் இடம் கொடுத்தாலும் அடியார்கள் இடம் கொடார்கள்
My dear Laxmi ! Welcome to this thread ! You " stick" the thread dutifully every time, I thank you for that ! Adithu valar means only disciplining - not exactly thrashing, I feel. That was the theory in olden days ! Thankyu for the F B. Love, Chithra. ஐம்பதிலே அறிவு, அறுபதிலே அடக்கம், அதற்கு மேல் ஒன்றும் இல்லை
My dear Preethi ! Yes, I did'nt see you much online for the past 2 days - but missed you, can't help mentioning it ! I love the way, you have analysed them ! Thankyou for the F B. Love, Chithra. தனக்கு ஆகாத பனை இருந்தால் என்ன, உடைந்தால் என்ன ?
