To appear for the PMP exam, you need to have 3500 hours of project management experience.

Above link has the handbook and requirements information to appear for PMP exam.

Currently PMI is conducting exams for PMBOK fourth edition. Exam has 200 multiple choice questions and duration is 4 hours.

You can get the required 40 hours of study hours by taking a PMP online training program or class room training. There are lot of elearning sites which are offering this training and would give those 40 PDUs that are necessary to apply for the exam.

After submitting the application, PMI sends a confirmation whether your application is selected for audit/not. If selected for audit, they would send the procedure as to how you need to send them hardcopies of your experience you have listed in the application.

If your application is not selected for audit, PMI would confirm the same and would send a booking number using which you can book your PMP exam at any prometric testing centres.

Go through the above link and it has the detailed information about all the info I have listed above.

Now coming to online/elearning programs, PMSTUDY.com is offering a certified or accredited program for appearing for pmp exams. Go through their program , its pretty cost effective and also easy to understand and clear through. Or else google for the elearning sites which are offering similar programs you would find lots of them.

There are some online forums where they explain the preparation needed to clear PMP exam. You have go through the PMBOK atleast 3 times from start to ending page. Atleast 3 months of preparation with atleast 5 hrs of study per day is necessary (based on the experience you have in the subject, the more the experience, it becomes easier to clear the exam)when answering any sample exams, ensure you are getting 80% on all the attempts that way you are sure you would clear through the final exam.

Its a tricky exam, more about concepts and our understanding of the subject. Even if you mugup the whole book, you wont find similar questions from the book. Thats why answering more n more test papers/sample exams is important for this exam.

Exam fee is 450$ including registration to PMI site (as far as I remember)

Let me know if this information helped you and incase if you need anymore info. Again its not tough/easy to clear this exam. depends on your approach and commitment to clear it.

    Good Luck
