Hi, In this process normally we do varapoja and kanya nischayam. Varapoja means bride side parents give clothes and gold ring Kanya nischayam means groom parents give saree and may be necklace or ring And they decide the marriage date and write lagna paprika. But now a days bride and groom exchange rings but that's not our tradition. I think this is the normal procedure all telugu people do.
as said by above poster,exchanging rings is a recent tradition..if you are from guys side, we take sweets,fruits and flowers and saree for the bride..the girl will wear a saree first of her own and then after the nischaya taambulam is given,the saree which is given should be worn...if possible lagna patrika is exchanged the same day...
