    Dear Kamla,
I have already started planning, from the Indian end for your train journey.
But buy a return ticket & come. If your mind changes after the"sukamana inimaiyana rayil payanam", Dr Anand will pounce on me !
I can't take the risk of his wrath, I only assure you of a pleasurable train journey :tongue .

    Dear Kamla
Shaukeen was a fantastic reference and amazing that you remembered it! But I must point out a glaring mistake you have made in your refrence while mentioning the principal characters. It was AK Hangal, Utpal Dutt and me and not Ashok Kumar!

In most of our cases, what we are and what we want to be can never match! For some fortunate ones, the gap is almost negligible but for unforunate ones like me, they are separated by the Seven seas! The escapades are the safety valve for us to let off the excess steam! I remember someone telling me that repentant sinners are better preachers and he always cites the example of Arunagirinathar! My own idol is our Kannadasan! From a life of loose morals , how he evolved as an enlightened soul, a people's philosopher! His life was an example of 'There is nothing good or bad; only thinking makes it so!'

Coming to the train journey, whoever is going to book my ticket should know I am a senior citizen and entitled for a concession but I do NOT want to claim it! I dont want the TTE to comment 'look at the way he ogles and he calls himself a senior citizen!'

    Dear Chithra
Lallu Prasad, that great turnaround artist, has become an icon even in such prestigious seats of learning as Harward for his stupendous show with the Indian Railways. He is forever thinking how to increase its earnings. If he only comes to know the real purpose of the senior citizens for using Train as the preferred mode of travel, he might not only cancel the concession but add some kind of surcharge for romancing in train!

Every one of us have unfulfilled dreams. You must have seen and enjoyed Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. She relinquishes her palace life for a brief while to give expression to her yearnings and having done that, gets back to her palace leaving her consort Gregory Peck with a wistful look. Did we not feel a lump in our throat when she got back to her rigid life in the palace? Did we not wish that she continue with Gregory Peck and her fun?

I can imagine how celebrities will feel about their lack of freedom to do what they want. Can they take a walk in the beach mingling with the crowd or buy sundal and eat it? Image is ok as long as it does not stifle us but when it becomes a nuisance, everyone wants to shed it! It is like your necktie that gives you an impressive look suddenly becoming a poisonous snake!

The irony is that image is what is created by others for us and no one works for it!

    Dear Cheeniya sir,

Had busy weekend( golfing, hiking) here and could not reply earlier. Just loved to read your reminiscence of all your great escapades. Yes i too have a whole bunch of tales to recall from college days...

Now eagerly waiting to read all about the great getaway. These days, i am happy if my son atleast prays to god and does namaskarams everyday. That is what it has come down to here. Now not sure if he will do the "sandhyavandanams" religiously if we do the poonal for him!.

Ms Anonymous, do you know if we can have romantic train journey with two kids in tow on the train?

    Dear Chitra
Long jump? Remember what Neil Armstrong said when he set foot on the moon? "A small step for man but a giant leap for mankind!" What I have taken is a giant leap!

My proposed escapade may just hibernate in my mind and become an unfulfilled dream of mine. Just another addition to a looong list of my unfulfilled dreams! If at all I make it possible, I would let you know all about it via K.Balachander as a two hour laugh riot!

Will I again take such a risk of exposing myself and incur the wrath of members here? No way!
