You know, I did too, until I heard about this. My searches did not come up with any almond milk brands easily available where I live, that had reliable info on the ingredients. So I gave up. Now it's home-made almond milk very occasionally or just regular dairy milk. Far better than ingesting loads of carrageenan.
I think it should be possible to soak, powder, dessicate and store almond powder generated in batches for future use. I plan to figure this out.

For almond milk the only thing that I have been happy with is
Soaking about 10-15 almonds overnight...peeling and grinding in vitamix with water.
    Yes its a bit of work..but :(
Ya I hear u ..endured so many lectures of "manja paal" myself...

Yes! Actually the ingredients sound right to me - I can picture my grandma making this, her hand on my feverish forehead. OK, I am laid low with a cold, hence all this reminiscing.
Also note that there's data that suggest that the bioavailability of curcumin, the ostensibly active ingredient in turmeric, is increased in the presence of black pepper. So they ought to go together.

Actually Costco sells almond flour. Not sure if it is 100% powdered almonds or a mix of flours. Wonder if that could work. I live in 'organic everything' utopia. Let me see if I can find a source of local home-brewed almond milk.

Before I forget, I hope you feel better soon. I have a puzzle in the works in case you need a distraction. Will post later today.

I add the about to expire greens in a big bowl of sambhar and have for dinner. The family seems relieved that we don't have company to behold my strange combination.

The greens go well with my sambhar which is a mix of what my mom used to make, what my neighbor aunties used to make, my MIL used to make, and what my DH (and his roommate) used to make in his bachelor days. ROFL. : )

The above sauteé sounds so yummy. Can't wait for the next expiry date to draw closer : )
