Dear ladies, it’s two weeks since I gave birth and I had been having vomiting for the past 8 -9 days... mostly because of gassy stomach... vomiting post pregnancy doesn’t seem to be too common though few had had this... did any of you or your acquaintance had or have this issue? It would be helpful to know if there is some home remedy...

I had heard about this. But never had it. Eat meals in frequent intervals before getting too hungry? try ginger? Whatever works for nausea should work for this too i guess.

Could it be due to acidity? Try drinking half a liter of water as soon as you get up in the morning. Also, are you following the traditional post pregnancy diet? Usually, it advocates going easy on proteins and gas causing foods. Only veggies like lauki, squash, ridge gourd, snake gourd (all the moisture rich veggies), lots of curry leaf powder, dry ginger and ghee. Having mustard is also encouraged. Also go easy on rice. If you feel hungry, you can make a lot of curry and have it, instead of taking more rice. Having fenugreek seeds is okay since it boosts milk production. So you can try fenugreek as well to help with the acidity. Have a spoon of it in the morning along with the water. I was given some kind of lehyam in the morning (I had to eat a ball) that is supposed to set the digestion right. Not sure if you have it in your traditions or not.

Congratulations Iniyasri. Was your delivery normal or c section? Sometimes vomiting can be caused by constipation, constipation will be there after delivery be it normal or c section, but c section delivery can cause constipation for a longer time. drink lots of water, include fennel and ginger in your diet. People will say to increase lactation you must include garlic. But i would say avoid garlic for some time because it increases gas. That's why to combat flatulence caused by garlic, ginger always accompanies garlic. But if you feel bloated avoid garlic till the issue gets resolved. Disruption in Sleep patterns, dehydration, fatigue after delivery may have changed the balance of your system. Once you get the sleep patterns of your baby, you may be able to take well care of yourselves. Each womans body changes after delivery in different ways. Also elders will say after delivery always sit cross-legged to avoid wind getting inside the body. If you aren't already following you may try to follow it now. If the flights to your country are open you may invite your parents to your country. You will feel a lot better with your mom around. They know natural remedies for all sorts of problem. If you can, you can buy nyaanasundi chooranam from amazon. Its usually given for lactating mothers to avoid gas and to increase lactation. Aak your mom for the correct name as am not sure if i have spelled it correctly. Till the problem gets resolved avoid non vegetarian and include vegetables like snake guard, pumpkin, ridge guard which are easy on stomach. All the best. Things will get okay after 3 months or we would have got used to things by that time at least.
