I am so very sorry to hear your plight. It sounds quite scary and painful.
But kudos to you for being strong and dealing with it so courageously.

Unfortunately i cannot help you as i am not aware of the medications you want advice on.
But i do hope your pain goes away soon and you get well quickly.

Thank you Jaya for your wishes. I was scared to death about the procedure. But as the days are nearing and I know that it is inevitable, my mind is getting prepared more and more. I have reached a comfortable level for getting the test done.

More than the test what worries me more is the fact that my husband is not in station on the day when they are going to do the test bonk. And I do not want to postpone the test anymore. I want to get it over with at the earliest. However his presence would have given me a lot of comfort and courage. Sometimes I guess it is good to be bold, especially when it is one's own health. So I have decided to do it.

But again, I have two children - one is 3.5 years old and the other one is 2.5months old. My mother is there is to take care of both of them. But my youngest son is exclusively breastfed. He doesn't accept bottles at any cost - very stubborn boy. Now when I go for the test they are going to give me mild sedatives and I am not sure if I can breastfeed the baby after that for sometime. I wonder how my mother will manage him :bang. I don't want to even think about it.

I guess we have to manage this for one day - there is no other alternative for me. Wish me luck. I will keep you posted about the test.

Thank you Santasekar. Tomorrow is the Sigmoidoscopy procedure for me. After everything is over, I will keep you posted about how it went and the results.

ALL the best! i hope everythig goes fine. Your rightly said that we need to take care of ourselves. My husband also travels often but i manage with my 2.8yrs old daughter and being pregnant besides working fulltime.

I am sure you will manage. You have withstood so much pain for so many days and dealt with it so courageously, i am sure it will be a breeze for you.

You could ask the doctors if you can breastfeed after taking the sedatives.....?

Hai Santasekar and Jaya,

I finished the Sigmoidoscopy test today - I am relieved that it is over. The test was really smooth and quick. There was no necessity for any sedatives as it didn't pain at all. There was a little cramping in the stomach - that's it. Apart from that I couldn't feel a bit of pain anywhere else. It was just 5minutes procedure. Doctors and nurses were too good to be true - fantastic.

Okay as far as the results, there are no polyps or cancerous growths. However there are hemorrhoids which needs treatment. I have to schedule an appointment and discuss in detail with the doctor as to what can be done.

I really want to thank you people for being out there for me.

Thanks Jaya. Here getting appointments is very painful. I have got the appointment for July 28th. I am yet to know how bad it is and what can be done. They will usually start with conservative method of treatment, i.e., taking lot of fibre, drinking lots of water, taking stool softners, sitz bath and sometimes topical ointments. I am doing most of it already. So I will have to wait and see. I am just hoping that things are under control till I come to India. I am planning to come in a month or two, once my son's passport and VISA is over. When I come there I will either switch over to Ayurvedic or homeopathic treatment. Let's see.
