Wow Srini! I must say you are very lucky to get your periods so late after delivery.I remember I got mine just 45 days after the delivery.Anyway,I don't think you need to worry.Maybe it is heavy because of the 6 month gap.The initial periods after a delivery usually is heavy.Maybe you can wait till next month and see.

Hi Dsrini,

You may want to check with your doctor. If you are having very heavy flow you may become anemic. And if you are breastfeeding the risk is even more. I also had a C section and my periods started 3 months after my delivery though I was breastfeeding my son. It was normal though not very heavy.

good that it was normal..
my periods started the imm next month after a C section.. i got worried and consulted my Dr.. she said it is good to have ur periods at the earliest.. it means ur body is returning back to normal.and only if it is heavy and is there for 5 or more days she asked me to consult her back.. so dodnt worry much

Post delivery problems

I delivered baby in the month of April 2008 through c-section - this is my second one. The recovery after c-section was very easy for me this time. The first few weeks I had no problems at all. Troubles started during the last week of May.

(01) I started my journey into Hell by eating chicken for a couple of days (BIGGEST MISTAKE bonk). This led to severe constipation. My son's pediatrician told me not to take any laxatives by mouth and asked me to use suppositories. I tried using them for about 10 days. Instead of solving my problem, it gave way to another disease. I started bleeding while passing stools and it was extremely painful. I tried hard to bring everything to control by eating lots of fibre (2bunches of spinach everyday, fruits) and drinking lots of water (around 3 litres) - nothing helped. Just the thought of going to the toilet became scary.

I thought I had Hemorrhoids - so I tried using Tucks pads, sitz bath, some hemorrhiodal ointment and changed to a different laxative. Nothing worked. On June 9th I went to my OB/GYN and she said she doesn't treat Hemorrhoids. She referred me to a Gastroenterologist. I took an appointment and went to this doctor the next day. He heard my problems and said I have Anal fissure. He prescribed Analpram-HC ointment. After I started using this, alongwith pain, burning started. More than the pain, burning became unbearable. So on June 14th my husband couldn't see my pathetic condition and took to the Emergency room. There they gave me some Xylocaine 2% ointment, some painkillers and sent me home. This gave me relief to some extent, but did not solve my problem. Again I went to a different doctor on June 19th (a Gastroenterologist). She checked me and said I have Anal Fissure and a hemorrhiodal tag which is irritated / inflammated. She asked me to use Zinc ointment and said she will send prescription to the pharmacy directly. She also told me that since I have a big skin tag, there could be some other problems inside. So she asked me to get a Sigmoidoscope done and told me about the possible side-effects of this procedure. I just got scared and didn't fix an appointment for this test.

I came home and decided that I will not use any ointment and that I would let the wound heal on its own. But I also decided I would solve my constipation problem. I maintained my diet to only vegetarian food containing lots of fibre and taking lot of liquids and also using laxative. This solved my constipation problem.

As of today I am not having constipation problem and I am not bleeding while passing stools. However

(a) when I wipe with paper, I see blood on the paper.
(b) There is no pain while passing stools, but after the process is over, pain is there forever. It doesn't go away until I take Tylenol.
(c) The hemorrhiodal tag that I had was very small initially. Now it has increased in size and I am worried that it might become bigger. Someitmes itching is also there.

I was searching the net and came across Amoils Healing Natural Oils for Fissure and Hemorrhoids. They claim that it is safe for using during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am exclusively breastfeeding my child. I am tempted to use this product but I am afraid of using it, because it is not FDA approved. I do not wish to use this product and hurt my child indirectly.

If anybody has used this product please give me your feedback. I am in need of desperate help . I do not want this condition to worsen up. Please help me .



(02) Post-delivery bleeding was there for about 5 weeks and it stopped. On June 1st I had bright red bleeding and it covered about half of sanitary pad. I thought it was periods after delivery. Nothing happened for the next few days. On June 9th again bleeding started and it went on till June 13th - like regular periods. Again when I went to the Gastroenterologist on June 19th I had some bleeding. Today again I have some bleeding - about half of a sanitary pad. I am just not able to understand whether this is a different problem OR whether this is in anyway connected to the Anal problem that I have.

I am just tired physically and emotionally. I am planning to go to my OB/GYN this week. Anybody who had these kind of problems please give some advice and help me out. I am in need of desperate help.
