Hi Am a working mom. Planning to manage house without maid , need positive vibes and planning tips.

    9-6 job.
Recently our in-house maid went to hometown so i got no maid days.
No help from spouse because he is travelling daily for long distance job.

Elder kid -5th std boy Van at 7 AM.
Younger -his dad drops at 8:30 AM.

Can some one share the threads /schedules which will help me to follow.
Also elder will come soon around 3:45 and younger will come at 4.15. Is it good to make them stay alone as i will be coming around 6 - 6:30 PM.

Am working for Support project in IT. My spouse will come after 9-10PM.

    Help me with some plans

    Thanks

    Hi @dhivyacc
Very tight schedule you have there.

It appears you are in India.

Leaving the children alone, below age 10 is generally not advisable. They must have someone to keep an eye on them.
I truly cannot tell what your circumstances are and therefore cannot give you any suggestions. So I am just answering your question.

Again not sure where you need help. I noted that you had read the first post in the Time Management Thread.
Though I know it is a long thread, going to through some of the posts may give you some ideas on how others manage their hours.

Without getting into the specifics here are some general suggestions.

You mentioned spotless home. So I am assuming you are focused on cleaning the home part.

    1. Take one room every week.
Have a three baskets or three bags.
Bag 1- Things that do not belong in that room.
Bag 2 - Things that belong in that room
Bag 3 - Things that need to be trashed/given away

Day 1 - starting from the door work towards your right or left. pick up stuff lying around and then place in any of the three appropriate bags. Spend a maximum of 1 hour. Not more.
Day 2 - Clean a shlef or two - mot more than one hour.
Take as many days to clean small areas.
When done place all the stuff that belong in that room in appropriate places.

Then move to the next room. Repeat. If you find any stuff that belong to that room in the bag, place it there.

Maintain this routine and slowly it will be a habit.

Also these are general rules to follow everyday:
    1. Get up and make the bed - Just straighten the sheets, fluff the pillows. - 10 minutes maximum.
    2. After coming from work - Sweep the floor
    3. Before going to bed - mop the floors
    4. Before going to bed - Clean the kitchen.
    5. Before going to bed -Wash the dishes.
    6. Before going to bed - check if everything you need in the morning is ready.

Weekends - plan for the week's cooking.

For me Saturday is for relaxing and shopping for veggies and groceries.
Sunday after a leisurely breakfast my work week begins.

Teach your children to put away things they use.
Take their help in folding clothes, rearranging shelves, organizing stuff etc. Make it fun so that they will look forward to helping out.

I need to go to work and my time here is up. :)
    Best wishes.

It's not safe to leave such young kids alone unsupervised..
Can u get parents or in laws to help just till the maid comes back..ok I'm not aware of your personal circumstances, just a suggestion..
Can u get a part time maid temporarily to come early morning and do sweeping, mopping, utensils, vegetable cutting so that u can get some relief from cleaning work and just concentrate on kids?

    Ya am in India.

    @kkrish Thanks for immediate assistance.

My elder one is 10 years old. staying alone wont be any issue.

But younger one is 6 years only - there comes problem i think.

Ya I have other complications such as my parents are ready to stay but spouse not ready making them stay.

    In-laws wont come and stay.

so i HAVE to handle the daily chores, kids and also work.

I discussed with my previous long ago maid , might be around 4 years back. And she said she will arrange some known person.. who will come for mopping, sweeping, vessels cleaning -for this now they charge 2.5K - i feel it as high however i dont have other option.

My elder one come at 3:40 and i gave him a key and asked younger ones autowala to drop at first floor.
if today that lady comes, i will ask her to come at 4PM so that it will be an accompany for children. where she can do the works.

I asked my sister to come around 5 for today and tomorrow to be there.

I came office at 7:45 hoping to leave around 4:30 which will give help in time management.

Everyday is a new learning. Today felt really stressed but trying to handle in due course.

My parents said they will come around september 1st week.. and will stay for a week or two. till then try to manage and eat well, if you have strength you can handle - Your mom even handled more than this.. that's what the reply am getting from my dad :)

If these things are not working , then i will have to put them in afterschool care.

but my spouse feels like - let the children come alone and handle by themselves. - i could not agree 100 %
