pooja,going to temple after a delivary in the family ?

    hello ladies,
    my co-sister just had a baby on mon..i heard ppl saying that we can't lit lamp,do puja,go to temple or attend any spiritual ocassion for a few days ! i would like to know how long shud we refrain from these ? i heard till she is given a bath ! is this right ? would like some insighton this topic !

    In kerala,we cant go to temple,do pooja,lit diya till 16days from the day baby was born..I guess it would be the same everywhere...Hope this helps you.

    PS:N in our place d baby goes to temple only after the ceremony of giving him rice from temple.

    If delivery is normal, then it is a laid down procedure that after naming ceremony takes place (11th day), the family goes to nearby temple....
    If delivery is cesarian then only after 16th day, the procedures are followed...
    As those days are considered as Theetu for the mother who has delivered, these procedures were laid down in Manusmrithi....
