Friends

Iam a very poor writer, but i want to express my feelings, so please bear with me and give your valuable time to read this full and also reply...

I am suffering with HYPER THYROID FOR LAST 12 YEARS :bonk AND UNDER MEDICATION ( Neo-mercazole 5mg 3 tablets ) AND GETTING LOT OF HEALTH ISSUES BECAUSE OF THE MEDICINES TAKEN FOR VERY LONGER PERIOD AND ALSO lottttttttt of side EFFECTS due to thyroid ETC ETC......Doctor in Pune sugessted me for RADIO IODINE .:shaking::confused2::-(..which really scared me and entire family...So, to have a SECOND OPINION AND ALSO TO KNOW MY PRESENT CONDITION....i badly want to meet a specialist in CHENNAI....i felt i can express all my problems in TAMIL ( always expressing anything in our MOTHER TONGUE is very easy know) and get permanent remedy and soothing words ....so .. During my summer vacation to Chennai, i went for SECOND OPINION / CONSULTATION TO A VERY FAMOUS THYROID SPECIALIST - ( he himself say NAN PERIYA SPECIALIST...PEOPLE COMING TO ME FROM ALL OVER THW WORLD.....NI PORAKARADHUKU MUMNNADILERNDHU IAM PRACTICING ...etc.etc.....in very very very harsh and arrogant voice)........

My family and friends were very much worried about my health conditions, i was crying and begging to GOD daily to give me GOOD HEALTH AND RECOVERY FROM THIS THYROID AND OTHER HEALTH ISSUES........so desperately i want to meet a specialist/ DOCTOR - whom we consider EQUAL TO GOD....is it not???!!!....please tell me.am i wrong?? ......avan avan 1000 disease vechundu doctor kitta poran .....hoping he will say some SOOTHING WORDS......give us MENTAL STRENGTH .....EXPLAIN TO OUR QUERIES IN DETAIL...atleast to some extent..... .and FINALLY SOME SOLUTION ...is it not?? ...........and finally i went ....waited for more than 1 hour inspite of my correct timing entry in the clinic ...its ok.it happens.......i was just praying inside alllllllll the time ....and my mom literally sitting with CRYING FACE AND CHANTING SOMETHING IN LOUD VOICE.........pavam enga amma............and our time came and me and mom only went inside.........( my sweet friends also have accompanied me)

Me: Good evening Doctor...

Dr.: Enna sollu

Me: :shock: by his behaviour.....Dcotor iam coming from pune ...

Dr: people are coming to me from all over the world...iam a big specialist you know....enna eppa .....

Me: i just kept quiet and say about my problems...and showed my previous reports....

Dr:..YOUR PUNE DOCTOR HAS SUGGESTED YOU RIGHT ABOUT THE RADIO IODINE......BUT TAKING THIS TABLET FOR LONG TIME IS REALLY REALLY BAD.......

Me: Dcotor can you please say about RADIO IODINE.....I HEARD / READ ABOUT THAT...IN BOOKS AND NET.....IT IS VERY ...VERY SCARY.....can you please explain us...like is it safe method...any side effects ....what all precautions.do's and dont's........pls explain.......( BELEIVE ME,........IAM ALREADY FELT LIKE CRYING... HEARING radio iodine is the only solution...)

Dr.: vandhutaanga periya LORD....NET-la edhavadhu padichutu vandhu enga uyira eduka vendiyadhu.........SEE IAM VERY FAMOUS DCOTOR.........I DONT HAVE TIME OR HEART TO EXPLAIN YOU ALLLLL THESE......ADHUKU VERA ALLA PARU......IAM NOT FOR THAT.........IF YOU ARE INTERESTED DO THAT .OTHERWSIE.....EDATHA GAALI PANNU........en uyira edukatha.

Me: i struggled to control myself.....not to cry.not reply aything back to him......i asked ..i will hear to you doctor...what shld i do next...??

Dr.: Let me give for complete thyroid profile test ....do it here........

Me: I said Ok.i will

and he checked my weight and it was 93.5kg exactly on 30th april

Dr.: Your weight is tooooo much.....go for walking.do exercise and diet

Me: I said .iam going for walking 5 days a week nearly for 1 hour and more than 6 kms.....iam a very brisk person.....and to some extent daily daily i will also have rich diet........but still......iam putting weight day by day....so pls help me for this also doctor......

Dr: Are you going for walking??.i cant beleive........dont lie.poi solladha...you were just sitting and eating nicely in the house.....you seems to be like that....I have done SPECILIZATION IN WEIGHT MANAGEMENT ALSO ......so dont cheat me or lie to me.........

Me: Tell me how i would have felt??>....i still controlled my tears and told.....i used to walk more than 8kms and 1 hour.....offlate i got very severe. pain in my leg and heels and i took SPOT INJECTION ....and my Ortho doctor told VERY OBESE people should not walk for long time ..... 4 days do cycling with back rest ( stationary cycle) and 2 days walking just 2-3 kms...is enough.dont strain too much....

Dr.: Oh!! is it.then along with other test do this VITAMIN D test also....etc.

Me: I said Ok....

Dr>:...hey.dont ask me question this and that know......take this test...stop medicines from today.........let us see after the results.........just go home .ok....clinic clinic-ka alangindhu erukadha......po!!

I came out ....took an auto.( i dont want to break out in the clinic.since he got camera all over the clinic inc main gate and watching everything......)...and after getting down.......i burst out and CRIED LIKE ANYTHING......in the road/ hotel entrance.....my mom and friends were shocked and my mom also started crying.........iam very much worried about my results/ Dcotors arrogant and rude behavious and about RAIDO IODINE treatment.....etc etc...

pLEASE Tell me how can he talk and behave like that........what is wrong with me.....asking about treatment detail is wrong???.........World is going in advanced way ....people seeking NET HELP FOR EVERYTHING....so i also did....even that i asked him politely only......

So after two days i went to collect results and show to him...my friend also came inside that day........she is well educated female and working in very good and senior post in a very reputed company....

fortunately my results came good like all are under control.....so he asked me to stop my medicines for a month and take a review after one month and no need of any treatment as of now....but he asked me to come with the report personally after one month.

Me: doctor iam not here...came for vacation....so can i mail you ?? Is it really ok for you, if you dont mind??..or what else i can d o.can i courier..??....please guide me...

Dr: Vera velai illa ennakku.i wont check mail and all.....neenga ellam periya software-la work panravanga.( iam housewife and my friend not in IT) ....ungaluku ellam vera velai illa........iam not like that.iam very busy....enakky time-um illa .appadiey erundalyum i wont check mails........eshtam erundha va...illanai .po

My Friend: Iam her friend....iam here only....if you dont mind....can i bring her results in person...will you help us.....what to do next??.

Dr.: okok...ni nerula va.nan solren.....

Again my reports are very normal and under control inspite of not taking any medicines for one month.... but T4 IS LITTLE ON HIGHER SIDE.LIKE JUST .50 (..GOD IS GREAT......all his blessings and my MOM"s prayer)

And, now, after one month......my sweet loving caring friend, inspite of her very busy schedule went to meet doctor with my reports.......

Dr: Results are normal only.....LET her stop her medicines and come for review after 3 months

My friend: Dcotor, if you dont mind.....it shows T4 not within the range...is it ok?? ....what should we do for that....iam worried.pls help me

Dr: Nan edhuku unkitta sollanum...pateint varalai....go,.....i have lot of work.....keka vandhutta....

My Friend: Dr she is in pune.you only accepted this deal......thats why i came

Dr.: enakku adhu ellam memory -la illa..........i dont remember anything......vera velai illa enakku............ishtam erundha un friend vartum after 3 months.otherwise engayavdhu poonga.....get last......and can u tell me where are you working and what is your post??

My Friend: She told.........

Dr.: Un keliv ellam unga companyla vechucko....unakku ellam even velai kuduthan.....po....

My friend called me and told.hey my dear.nothing to worry......you can stop your medicines for 3 months and repeat test .....

Me: that is ok.iam happy....tell me hopw that doctor behaved....hope no problem for you....

My friend: i was prepared for anything for your sake ........so dont worry about all that........

Me: No no pls tell me what happened.....then only she told me about everything........she told ........latha.eventhough .i went prepared to hear his talks......but i was terribly upset........i was not able to swallow his talks.....i was feel like bursting out....somehow i consoled myself ......leave it d.....unakku health sariyana podhum...

I felt sooooooooooooooooooooooo bad after hearing her feelings........pavam my friend.........she went for my sake.....atleast to her he should have behaved properly.....

Now. tell me friends........what do you feel about this.....where we went wrong??...

Enakku manasu porukalai...that is why , i planned to share this......

I know , not all doctors behave like this.....( one of my friend took me to her family dcotor, he too gave me for several test and explained everything to me in very detailed manner and with soothing and caring words.....whi9ch gave me and my mom, mental strength to come out from all my health issues.....I SALUTE HIM AND BOW HIM........)

Hi Latha,

Definitely a doctor who speaks like this is not a good person.Its a doubt if he can treat patients well.It is said that doctors should be considerate to patient and make them feel better.Any issue affects us mentally first and then only physically.So only if he says good words you will feel better.

I wonder how even after listening to him,you went to consult him again.In future pls avoid such people,not only doctors any other person as well.

Very sad to read you horrible experience with that doc. My cousin also had similar experience though for a different issue. In this materialistic world there are some docs who behave like this. It has become mandatory to seek recommendations of known and unknown people for everything today.May God bless you with mental strength and good health here after. God bles you dear.

with all due respect to Doctors community ( I am also a Doc) what this particular person did was v v v bad. to be frank he is not fit to be a doc. due to money making persons like him our profession is becoming dirt and people doesn't believe in docs.
anyways you leave all the stress, Thyroid gets worsen by stress. take all precautions in food for your hypothyroid..

Firstly,Glad to know your results are normal....
Very bad situation...my heart goes out to you, faced such situations...such doctors do exists, where they don't have patience for patients...but some are very good....
reading your post tells me 2 things.. 1. He needs some treatment 2. you are going to meet a Best doctor next where all you concerns/questions are answered..

Thank you for your reply and concern ....

I was in very desperate situation to know about my results ( somehow even without second thought i gave for all the test for 5k in his lab and i want to know the result ......)

And, he treated me rudely....leave it...but to my friend.... WHY THIS BRUTAL BEHAVIOUR TO HER......?? that makes me write this post.....she was telling me...this person must be PYSCHO....or he must go through some other problems in his family.....Whatever he may have....but his behaviour cant be justified.

And, now-a-days many doctors dont like to be questioned ......and mainly, if we say ,we, googled then they go WILD.....but FOR HIM NO EXCUSE.....since he has his own website and big advertisement for that....

btw how was ur exp with Pune Dr, maybe if not bad, you can continue here iteslf, as it may not be practical to go to Chennai every now and then for followup

Hi Latha,
Its been long time since we interacted. I am so sorry to hear about your health condition and also about your experience with that doctor. The world is made with all types of people, even if he is a doctor he is also a human being. Just take it like that. I have come across such doctors in these 25 years. There is a neurologist who will not look at us while talking, he will bent his head and talk only. Another pediatric neurologist who will not attend to patient who comes in emergency immediately, he will tell them to wait for their turn. My son's doctor, who is so good with us, shouted at my friend when she took her grand daughter to the doctor, I don't know why because I did not ask her to this day.
I have a suggestion to make. My son too is having thyroid problem - hypo thyroid, and I consult Dr.Usha Sriram here in Apollo, Kotturpuram. She is a very nice person and I know her for the past 15 years. (she was not the one who shouted at my friend). You could try meeting her the next time you come to Chennai, if possible.How is Krishna and your husband doing? How's Pune life, have you got used to it?

Yes mam, i totally agree with you, DOCTORS ARE ALSO HUMAN BEING BUT WE KEEP THEM IN THE PLACE OF GOD.....may be next to GOD...if only one time he behaves rude.its ok.he may also be having mood problems or whatever.....but everytime he is behaving rudely .....whether the patient crowd is there or not....early or late hours... i just forget all that.but really what he has done to my friend is really very very very bad on his part......since doctors sometimes answer rude or scold at patients........but how can he do :rantto my friend who just came for my sake....that too with his prior permission....cant digest it.....feeling so bad and guilty and more...

And, mam, i also heard about USHA SRIRAM DCOTOR.heard she has gone to US for few years...that is why somehow i missed to see her.......may be for checkup in the future i will surely consult her...

I also know one NUERO DOCTOR persoanlly and he is gem of a person...he is DR.AVS - A.V.Srinivasan....he is coming to MALAR HOSPITAL - ADYAR, TRINITY - ALWARPET and own clinic in RA PURAM.....few buildings ahead from BILLROTH(ex kaaliappa hosptial) .....just for information
