hi, oh, piggy banks bring the memories of childhood, the last one i had in college to save money for punjabi jutti(mojari)................. both my son have piggy banks but they are still to grasp the concept of saving as they are still small but they know every change goes into that boxes so after every shopping trip they want me to empty my purse of whatever change i have................many time i rob their bank when i need looses coin. another purse i have near puja place where i keep small notes as offerings & whenever we visit temple i carry this purse for temple collection or for beggars...........
Since we got married and opened a new account in the bank, we have been using Piggy banks. Then my little son came along and I taught him to put coins in piggy bank. The main reason I did was to ensure if by chance he finds a coin in hand, it will not go down the throat. Now, he puts coins in piggy bank and every 3 months I deposit it in his Child account
hi vidya, nice thread, my 2 kids 4and 6yrs ,have got their piggy banks ,they collect from their father and put in them every weekend. sometimes when myself or my husband says that oh no i cant buy so and so item because it is quite costly ,they immedietly go and get their piggy banks and tell us dont worry mom or dad u can use my money.its ok we can collect again.it feels so good for their understanding. :clap shashi.
Hi, Nice topic. I do have one from last year. I have this for god. I do put some money whenever i get salary, any good news I am hearing or if I am happy on any day . I thought i will collect this and give to our family temple once in a year so that we have the feeling we did something for our temple and also not too much at one time to shake our budget. I was so surprised to see i collected 15K and I am going to give this to our temple next month. May be the maximum from our small group but without any pain. I am happy that i was happy and hearing good news more last year :cheers
Dear Sri My son got a post office shaped piggy bank as a prize when he was in UKG. From then onwards, I give 1 Re if scores 5/5 in slip tests, 10 if he gets 100 in exams and give rs. 100 if he achieves something great. All the notes he saves in a purse. He has collected notes of all denominations (even 1 and 2 rupees notes) and old coins 5ps, 10ps, etc. He has made one cute pig with paper mache art. I will post it later. Ladies pls insist yr kids not to fold or write on currency notes.
SV, I have one. both my kids have theirs from when they were 1year. Mine has rusted too, but i still have it. it is almost 10 years old..it has seen too many ups and downs along with me. My kids, save the emergency money i give them everyweek. i give them 10rs for school week. for any phone/getting a pen. end of the week they need to give me account for that 10rs (though a small amount, the responsiblity to given an account is inculcated) and i give them the 10rs for the next week. whatever is saved goes into their piggy banks. they have their own accounts.sometimes, they get me and dh birthday gifts/anniversary gifts from their savings and also gift to each other. I give them 110 rs for every 100rs worth coins..
Sri, I also have a piggy bank and like you I also got it form Target last year "motu piggy" and I love it. -ginni
