    Hi Ramya,

Thank you! I am feeling better. There is a slight pain in my lower abdomen at times but it is a fleeting pain and doesn't hurt a lot! As for eating, thank goodness there are no bars! The doc said I can eat anything. :-D Only yesterday I had to be content with idlis and bread! Thank you for your prayers!

    Regards,
    Anitha

    PCOS and IUI

    Hi all,

I have PCOS and recently underwent ovarian drilling for the same. The doctor says everything is normal now. As my DH's sperm count is slightly on the lower side, the doc has suggested we go for IUI(intra-uterine-insemination) this cycle. She says the ovaries are clean and everything is perfect and so she doesn't want to waste such a good cycle when my DH's count is low. She says the success rate is 15-20%. I have been given Letoval tablets and HUMOG injections this cycle. My husband has been given Dicaris, Neuromin OD, COQ and some other tablet for improving his count. Has someone here undergone IUI? Can you please tell me how uncomfortable this process is and if it was successful for you? I have theoretical knowledge about IUI(the doc told me and I googled it out too)but I just want to know about the practical side of this. I just wanted to post about this here as I got a lot of support from all of you when I underwent drilling. :bowdown Am keeping my fingers crossed that everything will go well!!! Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Anitha

    Re: PCOS and IUI

Definitiely go for the IUI. I had pcos and low sperm count and morphology as well and the IUI worked for us. It increases the chances of pregnancy for women with pcos and men with low sperm counts upto 25% per cycle.

Below are a few tips I got from my friend who is a naturopath.

    1. Take complete bed rest after IUI for 3-4 days. This is to increase blood flow to the uterus and aid in healthy conception. Most doctors tell you to lead a normal life but this is not true. You need complete bed rest so that your body can concentrate it's energies on conception.

    2. Eat lots of protein to help with conception. Animal Protein, Eggs, Nuts, Seeds, small amout of tofu, paneer, protein shakes etc. Atleast 70-100gms of protein per day. Your body needs lots of protein to help the sperm fertilize the egg and also for the egg to implant successfully in the uterus.

    3. Start taking multi-vitamin with Folic Acid and a DHA supplement now and continue for the rest of the pregnancy. This helps prevent birth defects and gives the fetus what it needs to develop normally.

    4. Practice deep breathing / pranayam. Keep yourself relaxed, positive and happy. Remove all stress from your life.

    5. Pray!

Hope this helps! Good Luck with the IUI!

    Pooja
