:hello: Behenji, thanks for your concern about my disappearance from IL.
    • A plethora of problems and issues personal & General have hindered me from browsing and responding using devices. Holding phones & ïpad across palm caused somewhat severe nagging pain in the hand-nerves and had pricking feel in fingers upon tapping the keys.
    • After around two months using phones only when essential for very short periods, had resulted in huge reduction and am almost feel redempted from it. Of course I took advise from doctor and some tablets of multi-vitamin, calcium and more greens/Palak on daily basis for over 8 weeks.
    • I had symptoms of COVID and was in home quarantine for two weeks under strict regimen. But for minor cough and bit throat inflammation, I found symptoms subsided and gone nearly after a fortnight.
    • During this period suffered some financial losses and now stands squared up and reached almost comfortable level. A slight concern returned as US FED announced 7.5% inflation - highest in last five decades! Indirectly it affects the economy of other nation. People in US must be more concerned about it.
I am yet to check up your previous posts & FBs during this period when I was MIA here since last Deepavali.
    Regards.
    God Bless.

    :hello: Parsimonious women :hello:
Two old women - Dolly and Mehra - were ambling talking about their grandchildren.

Dolly said, "Each year I send each of my grandchildren a card with a generous cheque inside. I never hear from them neither receive a thank you message !"

Mehra replies. "I too send them a very generous cheque. I hear from them within a week after they receive it. In fact, they each pay me a personal visit."

"Wow ! How come ?” remarked Dolly.

    "Very simple solution..
I don't sign the bloody cheque."

    :hello: Rich Vs Poor :hello:

    In 1888, in Curacao
( a constitutional country with in Natherlands in Caribbean Sea) a bridge was built to connect two parts of the city.

A toll was charged but officials wanted it to be a 'progressive' tax. Rich people will have to pay more to cross. So how could the authorities identify rich and poor quickly for collecting the toll.
They had an idea, rich people wear shoes (it's 1888 remember), so they decided to charge a tax based on that. If one cross the bridge wearing shoes he or she would pay a tax, but if person is barefoot, he or she would cross for free.
Simple. Easy. Difficult to avoid. Brilliant.
But it failed miserably. Why so?

The rich simply took off their shoes and crossed the bridge. (tax avoidance)

The poor - They did not want to be seen as poor, so they would wear shoes or borrow shoes to cross the bridge.

    This is a true story.

    So what are the lessons?

    1. Poverty is loud, literally.

    2. Poverty is in the mind, but a verb.

    3. The rich stay rich by not spending. The poor stay poor by spending.

    4. Humans are irrational

    5. The rich always get better financial advice

    6. Taxing the rich to help the poor is cute but complicated.

I am reminded of my friend who told me it is cheaper for the rich to drink beer, as they do not have to finish it at one go (they store it in the fridge) where as the poor has to finish it at one go!
    This is the lesson
