Parabola Or Hyperbola ?

The Geography teacher was describing about the shape of the earth, to the students.

“ The shape of the earth is a sphere . It is like an orange. So you should tell that the shape of the earth is spherical.”

The teacher asked each student to tell the shape of the earth. .

Every student got up from his seat and told “ the earth is spherical “, and then sat down.

Teacher : The earth is ……. say,”

spherical“. The earth is ………..?

All the students : “ spherical “

This was repeated ten times .

The teacher said to the students “tomorrow we are having inspection . The Inspector will ask you questions .You should give the correct answers.”

The class was over.

All the students went home.

In his house Raja was studying repeatedly

“ The earth is spherical ,

The earth is spherical,

The earth is spherical.

…………………………”

Unexpectedly and suddenly he got a slap on his cheek ; only his father gave him the slap.

Raja's father told him ,” what nonsense you are reading Raja ? The earth is not spherical . Its shape is flat . Read ‘ the earth is flat ‘, “

Raja said ,” our teacher taught us that the earth is spherical in shape , dad”

His father grabbed his ear and dragged him to the street outside his house.

“ Now look at the street, Is it spherical ?” Raja's father asked him.

“ No dad “ replied Raja .

“ Then what is its shape ?”

“But our teacher…….”. Raja started to tell.

He was not allowed to finish the sentence.

His father beat him twice on his back .

Raja started to cry.

His dad asked “ Is it spherical ? Is it spherical ?”

Raja sobbed and replied ,” It is flat ,”

His dad asked him ,” Now tell me what is the shape of the earth ?

“ The shape of the earth is flat “, replied Raja .

“ Very good” said his father.

He then ordered Raja to repeatedly tell twenty times ,” the shape of the earth is flat “.

Raja obeyed his father and repeated twenty times “ the shape of the earth is flat”.

Next day , the inspector visited the class.

Alas ! It happened to be the geography period.

The inspector was standing with the geography book in his hands , facing the students.

The geography teacher was standing behind the inspector facing the students.

Raja's father was standing outside the class, by the side of a window. He was watching the class through the window.

He could see Raja clearly and Raja also could see his father standing outside the class.

The inspector started with his first question ,”what is the shape of the earth ?”

Very unfortunately he pointed his index finger at Raja.” You tell “.

POOR RAJA .

He saw his teacher , behind the inspector (without the inspector seeing him, that is, the teacher ), showing his hands as if he was turning a big ball , signing to Raja “ SPHERICAL”.

Raja's father standing outside the window was showing his hands - the palms pressing each other , as if pressing a small bit of paper in between his palms thus signing to Raja “FLAT “

The inspector was looking at Raja for the answer.

Raja was looking at his teacher and then at his father.

“ SPHERICAL” --” FLAT “

Again looked at the teacher and then at his father.

“SPHERICAL”---”FLAT”

Again looked

“ SPHERICAL”--”FLAT”

He felt “ between the devil and the deep sea”.

He will definitely be beaten if he would give either answer .

If he says SPHERICAL , his father will beat him.

If he says FLAT his teacher will beat him.

The inspector shouted at Raja ,” Tell”.

Not knowing what to tell , he instantly gave the answer :-

“The earth is SPHERICAL in the school and FLAT in the house , sir “.
