you can use old note books hard cover to fit like a frame.
but this will be suited for light weight paintin gs.

Paintings : Glass Paintings - Tips & Tricks

    hi IL's,

I'm currently working on a glass painting of lord Ganesha. as of now I've been using solvent based glass colors for his dress and all.

but now comes a tricky part. the face and body color.. for that i don't get skin color in solvent based form. but its available in water based.

    - is it ok to use water based ones for the skin portions alone.
    - and will there be any prob of the color mixing up wit solvent based ones. I'm quite skeptical abt going ahead with this.. cuz I've never used both types in a single painting.

    any suggestions ?

    Hi,

I also have a few questions.

From where can I get the glass?

Is there any special kind of glass or normal glass ok?

Do we have to paint the otherside of the glass to bring the actual colours of the paint?

    many thanks

    Mari

    hi,
you can get glass from normal glass and ply wood shops.there is no special kind of glass for glass painting, normal plain glass is enough, but make sure the size is minimum size (2,3,4,mm glass ).if the size is big ,it will be heavy to hang.if you are doing stain glass painting ,you can use textured glass like frosted glass or else normal plain glass which is used in windows.if you are doing reverse glass painting, you have to paint on back side with outlinepen ,acrylic and oil paints.if stained glass, front side with outliner and glass paints.hope this is useful for you.

    Hi,

Normally, glass paintings are drawn with black outliners anf fill the colours. But there is a difference between the professional one done in the doors of shops etc.

Is there any difference between the two varieties? If so, could anyone tell me the difference?
