    Hi Virajitha,

The first step is to wash the material. For the saree project I made a stencil. Got a blank stenciling sheet here in the craft store which is made of plastic. After drawing the design on the stencil sheet (with a marker pen) i cut it using wood burning tool . if you don't have that you can use an Xato knife or a hobby knife with a sharp tip. The process with the Xacto knife is a little tedious.

I used acrylic paint with a fabric medium. once you finish the stenciling part, you can do the touch ups free hand. Let it dry for at least 24 -48 hours and then iron it on the reverse side.

    hope that helps....

    Regards

    Hi Virajitha,

I used delta acrylic paint and decoArt fabric medium. The fabric medium converts Acrylics to Fabric Paints.

    Hi virajitha,

To tell you frankly I usually do not put the base coat of white when I do fabric painting.I think it depends on the paint you are using. When I use the delta acrylic paint with the fabric medium I don't see any reason to put the base coat and what I like the most is that the painted part of the fabric does not become hard to the touch.

I have tried Fabric paint (Fevicryl) from India. The consistency of that paint was different from the delta paint and it so happened that the fabric I was painting was blotting the paint. Now I don't know if I did something wrong or not. Maybe the best think Virajitha is to ask the person who suggested it. We might learn the reason.
Sorry that I could not be of more help.

    Regards,
    Shobie
