    This is from an Indian army officer who is a friend to my fb friend

    Just spoke to an Indian Army officer based in Kashmir who is fully aware of the details of the Pahalgam Islamic terror attack on Hindus. He also confirmed that when the responding soldiers reached the spot, the Hindu women and widows were shivering and huddled together in 2s and 3s in complete fear. None of them reported that any Muslim, Syed Adil Hussain Shah included, came to their rescue. Instead, all ponywallahs and local Kashmiri Muslims just stood around nonchalantly some even smiling at the terrified women. None, I repeat, expressed sympathy or came to their rescue. A soldier reporting to this officer who was among the first to reach the scene related that the women freaked out at the sight of the soldiers thinking they were jihadis (they were in fatigues too) that had returned to rape them. One of the women, upon realizing these are Indian Army soldiers, just turned her fearful gaze at the Kashmiri Muslim onlookers - and this soldier told the officer that "they were smiling."

    I can relate to this. I have traveled in every nook and corner of Kashmir during the peak of terrorism in the early 90s. Every time a discussion on the killings of Kashmiri Pandits or armymen came up, Kashmiri Muslims always smiled. It was the most unnerving smile I had seen. It was pure evil. It still is.

    A tourist had accidentally taken this video when the shooting was happening.
    What is more shocking- the kashmiri man behind already sensed the gun shot and said -Al*hu akb*r - thrice before releasing him, he should also be included in interrogation

    @chanchitra,

    Terrorism in any form whether it is in the name of religion or otherwise should be condemned by everyone especially when it is perpetrated against innocent civilians. Here in this case, the families were visiting Kashmir valley for vacation. The way terrorists executed men asking them to recite a particular Islamic recitation is barbaric. Almost all inteligence are now confirming that the terrorists didn't come to the valley without the help of locals and didn't come from the woods but through the gate in plain sight. They are supported by many locals including those who transported the guests in the Mule and the local hoteliers who tracked down the visitors. The terrorists were among the visitors for days to strike at the right time. Killing fathers/husbands in the presence of children/wives is unnerving. My heart goes out for those families.

    However, I appreciate everyone who condemn this kind of violent terrorist attacks including Sister @Yumna. Any organized crime against innocent civilians should not only be condemned but also responded courageously. Hopefully, the government of India would take right and appropriate actions that would prevent such attacks in future as I hear that there are more attacks planned and many more arms and ammunitions were transported to the Kashmir valley.

    We have watched similar terrorism against Jews on October 7th 2023 by Hamas on innocent civilians who were attending a music festival. I know Israeli government responded disproportionately disloging many innocent Gazans.

    It is becoming increasingly difficult to even comprehend such atrocities against humanity and judging what would be an appropriate response to such tragic situations.

    I remember reading your earlier post about how Kashmiri Pandits were executed systematically in 1990s.

    People from all religious beliefs should strongly come together to stop such violence in future. A social awareness should work independently besides actions by the respective governments.

    @chanchitra,

    I have "The Quran" translated by Professor (Dr.) Syed Vickar Ahamed gifted by 24 year old Syrian girl who is like a daugther to me. I request sister @Yumna to comment on this English translation as I have not done a deep study of Quoran with the help of a learned individual. I feel a lot of them are applicable whoever ridiculed Prophet Muhammad's revelations as untrue when He lived in mortal coil. I am sure there were non-believers in every religion like most not recognizing Rama and Krishna as divine (and treated them just like a human being) when they lived and some even now suggesting these two epics are fictions promoted by the followers of Sanatana Dharma. I also think that reading a Sura independently without looking at the contex before and after gives a different connotation. It is like reading a portion of Ramayana and Mahabharatha (only about the wars in both epics) and coming to the conclusion that the Hindus are violent when the true teaching from these epics are to establish Dharma in the world. When I went through the relevant Suras quoted by you, I found the following:

    Sura 2.190 - Fight in Allah's cause those who fight you, but do not trangress the limits. Allah does not love those who exceed their rightful limits.

    Sura 2.191 - Kill them (in a combat situation) wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out because persecution and injustice are worse than killing. But do not fight them at the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) unless they (first) fight you there; But if they fight you kill them. Such is the reward of those who block faith.

    Sura 2.192 - But if they cease, then Allah is Often Forgiving, Most Merciful.

    Sura 3.28 - Do not let the believers take the unbelievers as allies over the believers. If anyone does that there will be no help from Allah: Except if you have to guard yourself against their wrong doing. But Allah warns you against Himself and to Allah is the final return.

    Sura 3.29 - Say: "Whether you hide what is in your hearts or say it openly, Allah knows it all: And He knows what is in heavens, and what is in the earth. And Allah is Able to all all things.

    Sura 3.85 - If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission of Allah), it will never be accepted from him; In the Hearafter, he will be with those who have lost(all spiritual reward).

    Sura 3.86 - How shall Allah guide those who reject Faith after they accepted it and stood witness that the Prophet (Muhammad) was true and that Clear Signs has come to them (the Prophets)? But Allah does not guide those (unjust) people.

    Sura 5.33 - The punishment for those who wage war against Allah and His messanger (Muhammad), and word hard with strength and taste for mischief through the land, is; Execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from the opposite sides, or exile from the land: That is their disgrace in this world, and their punishment is heavy in the Hereafter;

    Sura 5.34 - Except for those who repent before the fall into your power: In that case, know that Allah is Often Forgiving; Most Merciful.

    Sura 8.12 - (Remember when) your Lord revealed (the Message) to the angels: "Verily, I am with you: Give strength to the believers: I will bring about terror into the hearts of the disbelievers: so you strike about their necks and hit hard over all of their finger-tips and toes."

    Sura 8.13 - This is because they stood against Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad): And if any stand against Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), Allah is strict in punishment.

    Sura 8.60 - Prepare against them all of your strength, as much as you can, including the (strong) horses of war, to strike fear into His enemies and yours, and others besides them, whom you may not know but whom Allah knows. And whatever you spend in Allah's cause shall be repaid to you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.

    Sura 8.61 - But if the enemy shows willingness towards peace, you (also) show willingness towards peace, and trust in Allah: Verily, He is All Hearing, All Knowing.

    Sura 8.65 - O Prophet! Prepare the believers to battle (against aggression). If twenty of you are steadfast, they will defeat two hundred. If one hundred of you are steadfast, they will defeat a thousand disbelievers, because these are the people without understanding.

    Sura 8.66 - Now Allah has made your (task) easy, for He knows that there is a weakness in you: But (even then), if there are a hundred of you, steadfast (patient & persevering) persons, they will defeat two hundred of the disbelievers and if a thousand of you, they will defeat two thousand, of the disbelievers, with the approval of Allah: And Allah is with those who patiently persevere.

    Sura 9.5 - But when the forbidden (four) months are over then fight and kill the (distrusted) pagans wherever you find them, and catch them, attack them, establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then make it easy for them: Verily, Allah is Often Forgiving, Most Merciful.

    Sura 9.6 - Of one of the pagans asks you for place of safety give it to him, so that he may hear the Word of Allah (the Quran); And then take him to where he can be safe. That is because they are men without knowledge.

    Sura 9.123 - O believers, fight those disbelievers who are around your region (not upholding the treaties), and let them be aware of your strength, Know that Allah is with those who fear Him.

    Sura 9.124 - And whenever a Sura comes down, some of they say: "Which of you had his faith increased by it?" Yes. those who believe - Their faith is increased, and they become happy.

    Sura 47.4 -Therefore, when you meet the unbelievers (in battle), strike hard at their necks until you have completely defeated them. Bind the captives firmly. When the war lays down its burdens (and ends), (then is the time for) either kindness or negotiation. Like this (you are commanded); if it had to test you, He lets some of you fight with others. But he will never let the deeds (of) those who are killed in Allah's way be lost.

    Sura 47.5 - Soon, He will guide them and improve their condition.
