    Hi ladies,

How many of us are on prescription drugs on daily basis??
    Do you really need them?

Our present culture is so dependent on drugs..we dont even pause to think if there is any other alternative. The reason for this is lies in the hands of those people who are supposed to be saving people....the doctors and the pharmaceutical company. For their own personal benefit ,load patients with unwanted drugs.

This is happening all over the world. In US people are aware of it to an extent, plus there are many FDA regulations for drug prescription...many doctors follow that but there are loopholes !! Over the counter drugs are misused to a great degree..pain medications, anti anxiety, anti deppresents..are few

In india, there is a mass overprescription and overdosing of drugs going on. Doctors prescribe drugs for anything and everything.. They try out all new drugs( which are given to them as samples by some pharmaceutical company) on patient!!! Are we at the doctors office as lab animals??

Multivitamins , BP drugs, diabetic drugs are abused in india..i recently read about newly born babies being prescribe multivitamin drops with iron and additional vit D!! Really??? Infants get all the required vitamins ,minerals and essential immunity from mothers milk. If she is taken care the baby will get it from her milk.vitDis passed on from mother to infant. No one thinks about overdosage or toxicity that can result because of overloading an infant with all this prescription. Many of those vitamins are fat soluble, including vit D( if its present excessively in the body..it can result in toxicity) . Only vit Bcomplex and C are water soluble..that means any excess is washed off in urine.
Educated people like us should be able to raise our concerns, ask doctors questions, ask them,is it really necessary? talk about the side effects, discuss about other alternatives. FDA approved dosent mean its safe....
Weigh in all the pros and cons before taking medications..

Ladies.. We are the center pillars of our family, lets make the right decision regarding the health of our loved ones.what do you think?Lets talk about this..

Awareness is on the go around the world. There are many who go in for natural remedies for small ailments instead of opting for drugs. a visit to the nature cure section will prove this.

problem is that people go to hospitals for emergency and while in this situation our brains don't work properly and we blindly follow what doc says ..... and they inturn use our situation and prescribe the drugs of which company pays them much....

NATURE CURE CAN CLEAR ANY DISEASE. Just that patience and right doctor is needed,

I agree with you... Doctors in india dont like patients asking them any questions...they feel that we dont trust them so we ask questions...and they get aggitated, they will ask us to find another doctor!!
but it is the right of every patient to know what is going into his/her body and to decide if its really helpful. Atleast in US doctors respect our rights and they do clarify our doubts.

I hope things will change..and educated people like us will be able to take our rights back.. Our health is our biggest wealth.

Like every education even medicine has best, good, average, below average students. whatever they score or whatever knowledge level they acquire, finally when they pass & come out, they will be called as doctor only.

Some works just with their book knowledge (copycat), some apply logical reasoning and analyse a patient in all angles (from my personal experience this happens only with general physician who has just MBBS degree. No docotor having a MD or speicalised knowledge have done this so far - those to whom we had visited).

So whatever be the quality of knowledge they possess, they are termed as doctors! so difference in experience could be due to this.

But there are very good doctors who are short tempered or don't entertrain questions from patients because like any genius they consider themselves more knowledgeable than a patient! :)

There are handful of doctors who does answer their patients.

There are many who makes the patient wait and attend to sales peoople of medical companies, art & craft (for clinic/hospital decor) etc.... I have seen that in my personal experience. While we pay and made to wait, these people take their own sweet time without caring for waiting patient because doctors club their timings along with consultation timing. Very sad state!

It’s not the doctor's fault, our less awareness is the biggest reason of the over prescription. Whileconcerning a doctor it's most important to find one you can trust, with whom youcan communicate well and establish a long-time relationship.

A specialist requires a different sort of expertise. You'llstill need to communicate well, but depending on the nature of your healthproblem, bedside manner and that need for a long-term relationship may be lessimportant. There are additional considerations finding the right specialist, too.

Sometimes the best doctor for you isn't a doctor at all.Nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA) are considered. Thereare also naturopaths and other practitioners of alternative and complementarymedicine (CAM) who may be able to help you.

A single tip for all is that you just have to make sure that Dr. Right is the Right type of specialist.

    Hi ladies,
    thanks for all your responses..

the source of the problem lies in the foundation of our medical system.. The IMA( indian medical association) is the body which can put forth strict rules and regulations regarding the medical ethics

If every wrong doing is scrutinized and if the doctor is held responsible for his action..i guess that will restore peoples trust and respect on doctors to a large extent.

We have a choice ..... If you find your doctor is not worth your health, time and money..go ahead and find a doctor who is compassionate ,trustworthy and believe that he works for his patient not the other way round.

a compassionate, friendly ,trustworthy ,respectful doctor is what we are all looking for.

    kind regards,
    soulsbong
