In between a casual conversation with my parents, one day, my father commented on how little noises (like dropping of the dishes, answering to a person from one corner of the house to the other corner :biglaughetc,,) inside the house here (in US) gives :shock:and :rantresponses.

" In India, the outdoor noise is more than the indoor noise and that's why they couldn't hear the sounds let alone the little noises, made inside the house, as a noticeable one.

But here in US, the outdoor noise is much much less and as a result of that...we can hear the indoor noises similar to the big bang..:biglaugh"

Thinking on those lines, this thought came to me.

When the Vedas were written, they say the sages could hear the cosmic sound of those and passed on to their disciples...nowadays, we couldn't hear those subtle sounds due to too much attention we pay on the materials that doesn't mean anything in the long run.:|

Too much attention to the outdoor, materialistic things deviate us from hearing our own 'inner voice'.:bonk
If only we lessen our attention to the outward noises and pay attention to the one inside us..we can hear that voice which, in due practice, will definitely guide us in the right direction, only if we pay attention to it. :exactly:

    Sri,

I 100% agree with you...really true that now a days we give importance to materialistic things than to any other thing and so we lose our patience and happiness comparing us with others and loosing our happiness...

Srini, when I read this, I was like how did she know about what I was thinking. I am trying to get used to all the outdoor noises as I am getting out jet lag and forget the inner voice, I am trying to be still for a moment is taking some effort from my end. But I am confident I will get there sooner than later!

Good write up Srini and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Bhargavi , there is a song 'mere samena wali kidiki me ek sundar chehara[ i call here as words/noise etc etc] diktha hai.

You know that the gramaphone was called as His masters voice.
So hence it is always nice to listen to HMV - the inner self.
The OHM word when rendered it is believed that the sound erupts from the navel.

Hence HMV will stay as long as the world stays.
    Nice write up dear

Very nice and thought provoking post Bhargavi! The analogy was a good one! However, practicvally it is diffcult to get out of matrial things...because it is a relative term! Can we really live without material things? I don't know....

    Hai Sri,

Nice piece of work correlated to spiritual thoughts. Wordly needs should be satisfied in righteous manner and it should be like "water dews on lotus leaves" with detachment sense. To activate inner voice is more crucial thing than any other materialistic achievement.

Absolutely true Sri. Not to mention the cacophony inside ourselves in addition to the one on the outside. We need to calm ourselves too, before we can hear any meaningful sounds from within too.
