தண்டாப் பத்து

1. ஆர்கலி உலகத்து மக்கட்கு எல்லாம்-
ஓங்கல் வேண்டுவோன் உயர் மொழித் தண்டான்.

நல்ல உயரிய குணத்தை வேண்டுவோன், பிறருடைய நல்ல குணங்களை உயர்த்தி சொல்லுவான் ( தவற்றை நீக்கி விட்டு)

If any person, who wants to earn honors in his/her life, will see and praise the good qualities in people around them.

2. வீங்கல் வேண்டுவோன் பல புகழ் தண்டான்.

செல்வம், புகழ் வேண்டுவோன், அதை அடையச் செய்யும் செயல்களைச்(அறச் செயல்களைச்) செய்வான்.

If one aims for wealth and fame, he would pursue in those actions that will bring forth it.

3. கற்றல் வேண்டுவோன் வழிபாடு தண்டான்.

ஒன்றைக் கற்க விரும்புவோன், அதைக் கற்றுக்கொடுக்கும் ஆசிரியருக்கு மரியாதை கொடுப்பான்.
(பணிவிடைகள் செய்வான்)

If a person wants to learn something from his/her teachers, he/she would give respect to them in the first place.

4. நிற்றல் வேண்டுவோன் தவம் செயல் தண்டான்.

ஒருவன் பிறப்பு, இறப்பு சுழற்சியில் சிக்காமல் இருக்க, தவம் செய்வான். (தவம்- தான் வருந்தி பிறரை வாழவைப்பதே)

In order to get rid off this birth-death cycle, one need to do penance like undertaking suffering in order to keep others happy.

5. வாழ்க்கை வேண்டுவோன் சூழ்ச்சி தண்டான்.

வாழ்வில் முன்னேற விரும்புவோன், தான் செய்யும் தொழிலை அலசி ஆராய்ந்து, பின் அதிலே இறங்குவான்.

If a person wants to succeed in life/business, he needs to get all the information necessary (to avoid any failures or be prepared to face it and also how to be successful) and then venture into it.

6. மிகுதி வேண்டுவோன் தகுதி தண்டான்.

நிறைய செல்வதை விரும்புவோன், அதை அடையும் முயற்சியினால் வரும் துன்பத்தைப் பற்றி கவலைப் படமாட்டான்.

If a person wants to acquire more (wealth or knowledge) he will not be bothered by the sufferings which might arise from his efforts.

7. இன்பம் வேண்டுவோன் துன்பம் தண்டான்.

இன்பத்தை விரும்புவோன், அதை அடையும் முயற்சியினால் வரும், துன்பத்தை துன்பம் என்று எண்ணமாட்டான்.

If one wants happiness, he will not think about the sufferings as suffering at all, which would come along with his efforts.

8. துன்பம் வேண்டுவோன் இன்பம் தண்டான்.

வாழ்க்கையில் முதலில் வரும் துன்பத்தை, ஏற்று நடப்பவன், பின்னாளில் வரும் இன்பத்தை வேண்டாம் என்று விட்டுவிட மாட்டான்.

Sufferings earlier in life, will not make that person, let go off the happiness, later on.

9. ஏமம் வேண்டுவோன் முறை செயல் தண்டான்.

குடிமக்களை காக்க விரும்பும் அரசன், நீதி நெறிகளை பின்பற்றி ஆட்சி நடத்துவான்.

If a King wants to protect his citizens, then he will rule the kingdom without showing any partiality in his judgment.

10. காமம் வேண்டுவோன் குறிப்புச் செயல் தண்டான்.

காதல் வலையில் வீழ்ந்தவன், தலைவி/காதலியின் குறிப்பையும், அவளது தோழியின் குறிப்பையும், அறிந்து கொள்வான்.

A person who fell in love, would read his lover's or her friend's related gestures.

முதுமொழிக் காஞ்சி நிறைவு பெற்றது.

Rgs, you said right about lover's friend's role in conveying the message, but don't know in real life, but in reel life, it still continues, isn't it!
