hi all , here is another simple recepie with easily available items in every kitchen onion dal is famous in andhra known as vullipaya pappu pulusu (onion dal in gravy ) for this we need Onion 1 big chopped finely green chillies 2 toor dal: 1 cup tamarind paste : 4 tbspn red chilly powder 1 tspn salt to taste jaggery or sugar 1 1/2 tspn coriander leaves to garnish turmeric a pinch for tadka mustard seeds : 1 tspn jeera :1 tspn hing a pinch Method : cook dal with 2 cups of water in a pan heat oil add mustard seeds, jeera and hing, when mustards carackle add dal , chopped onions, turmeric, green chillies (chopped), red chilly powder, jaggery (a must ) , salt and tamarind paste , and half cup of water let it simmer on low , till onions get cooked . now add coriander leaves and switch off the stove finger licking onion dal is ready ... Tastes best with hot rice .....
Never heard of this recipe... But tamarind and jaggery in dhal attracts me. Will definitely try. Thanks for sharing.
