This is from Chapter 18 of Geeta about what is desired of Brahmins. It's in Hindi but hope some already know it. I am a Brahmin by caste and find myself far far away from these attributes. Basically, he should be in a position to control his senses, be prepared to sacrifice for religion, be forgiving, knowledgeable, etc.
    What do you say?

    Those were old days
Even there are attributes to other castes as well.
The two primary roles of the Kshatriya caste were to govern the land and to wage war, which led to professions as rulers and soldiers.
We can't expect all kshatriyas to work as soldiers.
The same goes for other castes as well.
My 2 cents. CASTE IS A WASTE.

No one bothers about caste nowadays.

I tried to open the link or u tube that is posted here at different times in the last few days but it were all futile.
But Brahmins of yore are no more or a handful.
Brahmins did not exercise their franchise and distanced themselves fearing possible consequences at the hustings. This turned out to be a + point for atheist parties.

Today anti Brahmin activity snowballing ans soon would turn into inferno as Hindus Brahmins in Tamil Nadu are somewhat indifferent to the goings. One finds temples inside the modern church and mosques and Brahmins are scared to disclose their identity. Hijab fight masqueraded into various other forms and now in Tamilnadu a school reported to made it a rule no student to sport their religious symbols or signs.
Brahmins marry outside their community to get government concessions meant for minority.
In the name socialism, majority Hindus have become minorities and minority Muslims have become majority as in Jammu - Kashmir

Brahmins did not exercise their franchise and distanced themselves fearing possible skirmishes, killings, consequences at the hustings. Their indifference resulted in atheist party easily emerged majority. Brahmins never revolted collectively in history .

They are supposed to tolerate anything and everything and conveniently isolated and insulated from whatever happened against them resulting in their temples destroyed and vandalised.

The religion continued to think one day God would destroy the evil doers & their enemies. They are waiting for the end of kaliyuga?!

Now they are afraid to disclose their identity as Brahmins. Their attire changed. There is no tuft of hair on head. There is no divided dhothi. They fail to sport their sacred ash on their forehead, fore arms and chest.

They as far as possible do not proclaim to be Brahmins. Brahmin hate Brahmin. Brahmin married nonbrahmin living happily in India and in foreign. Their kids are proud that they are considered non Brahmin.

They feel being Brahmin does not give any material advantage.

How many people know that while Hindu temples are under governmental control, mosques and churches are completely autonomous? The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Act allows state governments to take over temples and control their vast properties & assets.

I only have sympathy for today's brahmins. They have far been maligned for the illtreatment of shudras by their forefathers
Government has given reservations for shudras from 1947. Still left media focuses on caste related oppression.

BBC, aljazeera have nothing else to talk about India other than a random act of caste oppression in some corner.

Blacks were slaves in USA for many years. But they don't get any reservations in education or jobs.

    true.

problem is , it has been manipulated by lot of outside folks like Europeans and moguls to break.

if you distant yourself, basically all caste links to being hindu and Hinduism is a way of life and not a religion. And i feel it is the real reason why it is one of most successful and peaceful religion for so long. you can name it. everything is branded now but just was considered a way of life our parents did.

    fasting - now IF
    pranayama - popularized by west

all these recent activities i sense are heavily sponsored from outside to break the country.

Somehow the image is missing here. I am pasting the sloka No 42 here for reference.

Shamo damastapah shaucham kshaantiraarjavameva cha; Jnaanam vijnaanam aastikyam brahmakarma swabhaavajam.

    42. Serenity, self-restraint, austerity, purity, forgiveness and also uprightness, knowledge, realisation and belief in God are the duties of the Brahmanas, born of (their own) nature.

In a general sense, particularly in big cities, no one bothers about caste nowadays. The caste system is very much alive in the countryside and raises its heads during election times.

Times have changed. As someone jokingly said Rama is selling tea at Rama Tea Stall, Laxmi is selling sarees at Laxmi Saree Bhandar, and so on.

There are still some places reserved for Brahmins-like pujari in the temples and at homes on 16 sanskaras.
