You can oats upma. Fry the oats with lil oil and make upma jus as we make upma with rava. It tastes very nice.

You can also add oats to wheat flour and make paratha.

Then you can make dosas with oats by adding oats and some finely chopped vegetables to dosa batter.

    Hi all oat lovers
You can cook oats asusual and add rasam. This is soo good. It is very tasty if you add garlic rasam, I cook and eat with curd and pickle. no difference between curd rice and this. Or you can add curd and rasam together and it is also very tasty and fulfiling meal.:2thumbsup:

like whole wheat and normal wheat we have oats and oats grits..

grits are nothing but rough or coarse form an ingredient

powder theoats grits in your mixie and use as usual for pudding, doas, adai, upma etc..

just a whip is enough oats becomes into powder :thumbsup

    Hi !
This is another simple oats recipe which i make and the children and my husband do not come to know that i have used oats and they love it.

    Vermicelli(sevai)-oats kheer

    oats : 1/2 cup
    vermicelli (sevai) : 1 cup
    milk : 1 cup
sugar : 1/4 ~1/2 cup as per taste
    ghee : two table spoon
    cardomom powder
    raisins
    cashews

Heat ghee in a vessel, add oats to it, fry a little ,then add sevai and fry a little. Add small amount of water so oats and sevai get cooked.
Add milk 1 cup. I even add milk powder about two-three table spoons and mix well. Add sugar and other ingredients and bring it to boil.

This is same as our vermicelli kheer except for oats is added which gives taste of chopped small coconut pieces added.

    Swati

    Hi,

I also do Oats Upma very much close to the recipe of Chamu.

    Here's my version:

    Oats - 1 Cup
    Medium size Onion - 1 - chopped
    Tomato - 1 - cubed
    G.Chillies - 3 - finely chopped
Potatoes, Carrots - each 1 chopped into small pieces (optional)
Red chili powder - 1 Tsp
    Turmeric powder - a pinch
    Hing - a pinch
    Garam masala - 1/4 Tsp
Oil and Mustard seeds and Urad dhal for seasoning
    Salt to taste

Heat oil in a kadai and season the mustard seeds and urad dhal. Add the chopped onion, green chilies and fry till the onion turns lightly brown. Then add cubed tomatoes and fry till it is completely mashed. Add turmeric powder. Then add the potatoes and carrots, pour in some water for the veggies to cook. Then add r.chili powder.

Meanwhile, dry roast the oats nicely till you get smell.

Add exactly 1 cup water to the cooked onions-tomato-veggies gravy. When the water starts boiling add the roasted oats. Let it get cooked (no covering with lid). When it is cooked, all the water absorbed then add garam masala powder and little oil and mix well. Take it off the stove.

Oats upma is ready. This doesn't even need any side dish and tastes very yummy hot-hot.

    Malathy
