I was in India for 2 months and when I came back ran out of my atta so had to rush to local Indian store for atta. To my suprise they didnot have pillsbury or lakshmi atta. So I ended up buying Deep (my only option available at that time) And next day when I made rotis they were very chewy and I had tough time making them too. Please dont buy Deep atta.

    Thanks,
    Ish84

Suggest a good WHEAT FLOUR pls

    Dear ILs,

I need suggestion to buy a good wheat flour. I bought SWAD brand wheat flour last time and it was horrible. Right from the color, texture, smell nothing was like wheat flour. It was yellowish and just like Maida. I started using it in place of Maida.

Missing good Rotis :( Would like to know a good brand to buy this time.

I see some SUJATHA, GOLDEN TEMPLE brands there. Any idea if they are better?

The ones in American stores are too costly, I would like to go for Indian brand.

    Awaiting for suggestions.

    Love,
    Amy

    Dear Amy,

AASHIRWAD atta is very good. Even if you get big bags, we can store it in ziploc bags in the freezer for it to remain fresh.

The chapathis come out very soft and does not become dry at all. They are extremely tasty too!!

Also, for more idea, click on the link below

Here IL'ites have discussed abt their experience with different attas.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers

You are most welcome Amy! :)

I can understand the frustration and anxiousness to find the right atta here in US. So, I never miss a chance to tell everyone if I find a good brand.

Personally, I've tried SUJATHA and NIRAV brands also when AASHIRWAD was not available.

All the above are good, but best is AASHIRWAD! :thumbsup

    Cheers

Thanks dear... I got a 20 LB bag of SWAD and was trying all ways to finish the horrible atta fast.

I do not have Ashirvad here. So can try Sujatha. That is there I beleive. Thanks once again :)

    Love,
    Amy

    Hi Amy

In NJ the place where i stay doesn't get Ashirwad brand.... then i used to use Sujatha.... but then last month took a risk and tired my hands on Suvarana Atta.... i found it to be very nice. Its same like what we get in India and No signs of Maida or that Elastic and yellow Rotis too.
