Night Queen Flowers Bloomed..

Hi friends,

I am posting pics of Night Queen/Nisha Gandhi/Brahmakamal flowers that was bloomed a week back at my neighbour's place
It was amazing to watch this flowers first time in life..
The aunty told me that the flower is considered sacred, and does not bloom in all homes.So its is considered as lucky if they witness the rare event. It is also considered to be a good omen and a sign of prosperity for the home.
An ordinary looking plant, about 4 feet tall and only blooms once in ayear between July to September..The smell can beat any designer perfume :thumbsup

Prettiana My heart bloomed seeing it I never saw this flower ---so It was a great pleasure thank you dear and may god shower you with happiness and blessing for a better future girl ---the flower is majestic to look at --wish i could smell it too---I have a night queen in pots it flowers to glory in the night ---the smell is haunting

Dear Prettina,
I too have this plant with me.and just last month it bloomed and there were 4 flower bloomed the same night. It was a wonderful experience.They looked lovely. A divine experience.In our neighbourhood, almost everybody has this plant. One of them even called a priest to perform the pooja of these flowers.Everyone thought these are Bramhakamals.
But,just Yesterday,Our daily newspaper'Sakal 'reported,that the real Bramhakamals grow only in himalayas above 15000ft.and its botanical name is 'sosurya'it has a very strong smell, strong enough that a person can faint.and the flower looks very different from the one found here.
The nightqueen flowerplant that we have, is just the type of Orchid.According to the newspaper report,in some houses, even 40 flowers have bloomed at a time.must have been a really wonderful sight.Nevertheless,I like the plant and the flowers even if these are not real Bramhakamals.
