New to MD

Hi All

I am new to IL and i am moving from chicago to MD(dec end) gaithersburg. I have 4 year old daughter. Any one can suggest good preschool?

Hi,
Welcome to MD.
Preschool recommendation can be done based on counties better.
We live in howard county...
My daughter is 4 and currently in kindergarten and she attended preschool in Goddard and Julia brown montessori and both are good private schools.
My recommendations might be helpful if u know ur county.

Suja thanks for your reply. I think it is comes under Montgomery county.
Also can u tell me what is the cut off date for Kindergarten.

Hi,
I checked the county public school website and as per their dates-
Prekindergarten, age 4 by September 1
Kindergarten, age 5 by September 1 .
Pl.check again in the website.Search under montgomery county public school in google for further details
Pl.check the website for early enrollment program.
In case of private schools it might differ.

Hi,
My daughter did an early enrollment test in feb and got admission in march in howard county.
It might differ in other counties and pl. check the dates directly with the school admn by emailing or calling them would be really helpful in ur case.

Hi Suja

I checked with julia brown montessori through phone. Since my daughter is born in October month some preschool says that she is eligible only for Three year old class.

Hi,
In JBMS being a montessori they will have preschool setup for 3yr ,4yr with different age group kids.
You can make them understand that ur daughter will do good in 4yr preschool and you can ask them to have an interview if ur daughter is familiar with some of the preschool curriculam.
My daughter did attend JBMS preschool at 3 in 4 yr preschool class with even some of 5yr olds were there.
But we preferred Goddard better than JBMS.
To start kindergarten u hav to be 5 or do an early enrollment exam.Till then it will be preschool.
Check out columbia montessori and columbia academy.Columbia academy will take ur daughter in 4yr old preschool if u attend an interview.
